The world has lost a giant in the healthcare clown world. Karen McCarty meant so much to so many clowns in the world. She brought the light. She brought the fun. She brought silliness. She brought the unwavering commitment to the world of hospital clowning. She brought the passion to keep moving forward. She brought the belief in the often misunderstood work of clowns who take their gifts into children’s hospitals and other environments where joy and laughter are true commodities. It is hard to find a hospital clown around who was not in some way connected to Karen. She will be sorely missed and remembered with great fondness by all of us clowns, and so many other people.
