Yoga is caring for yourself.
As I'm in the middle of another "limitation" I'm reminded even more that what the physical practice of yoga looks like varies greatly over time. While I take care of my knee, it forces me to become more creative and rest more than I typically do. Certain movements are not useful and cause pain. And that is OKAY!
Those of you that come to class know that I say things a lot like "Do what feels right for you in this moment" and "Give yourself a break when it feels right" and "Choose between this option and this option, neither is better or worse." These cues are all tools to help us get to a place where we can remain curious, pay special attention, and care for ourselves very deeply on every level. Yes, we are all human, but there is a huge range within this embodied experience.
I am so grateful to the teachings of yoga and how they encourage me to become more compassionate with myself.
