✨Natural Environment✨

Nature based play is critical in child development, enhancing learning, cognitive growth and providing an overall sense of well being. At OTIM, we have access to the beautiful 13 acre farm for our therapists to utilize during therapy sessions, including a sensory track, adaptive play-ground and small animal interactions (chickens, sheep, miniature horses, and of course horses). 👐Bilateral coordination👐
Bilateral coordination is the ability to use both hands at the same time to complete tasks. You can have your hands doing the same thing or your hands can be doing different movements. It is a very important skill to have to complete daily activities such as dressing, eating, writing, catching a ball and much more! 👏

Summer is here and it’s hot! Please see the following for important reminders of required clothing for sessions on the horse.

👟Required footwear:
-Clients must wear closed-toed shoes. No sandals, Crocs, or other open-toed shoes are allowed.

👚👕Clothing:
-Pants are recommended, but long shorts are allowed. Dresses and skirts are never allowed for safety reasons.
-Short-sleeved T-shirts are strongly recommended. Tank tops are allowed, but must have a wide strap and stay on the shoulders.

Did you know there is a playground that we can also use for our occupational therapy sessions!? We can work on strengthening, endurance, balance and stability on the equipment while also getting in some sensory input!! Also, fine motor can be incorporated into all aspects of our natural environments throughout these sessions as well!
