We're grateful for local options for midwifery care here in Jackson! ❤️

09/01/2026

We had a wonderful time at the Jackson Perinatal Professional Mingle last night, hosted by Jackson Chiropractic. It's wonderful when all of us who work in the (or is thinking about) maternal and infant health world get together to talk and to meet each other so that we can better serve our families by knowing the names and faces behind all the local resources for families looking for doula support, lactation support, maternity care, chiropractic care, and other needs. :)

Check out this amazing resource for a free pelvic floor health screening this week!

Have you ever wondered, “Is this normal… and is it something pelvic therapy could actually help with?”

For a limited time, we're offering Complimentary Pelvic Health Screens at Fit For You. 💛

This free 20-minute one-on-one visit gives you a chance to talk with a pelvic health therapist about what you're experiencing, ask questions, have a couple things checked and find out whether pelvic therapy may be a good next step.

A screen may be helpful if you're experiencing:

• Bladder leaking, urgency or frequency
• Pelvic or abdominal pain
• Pain with intimacy
• Pregnancy or postpartum concerns
• Diastasis recti or core weakness
• Pelvic pressure or heaviness
• Difficulty getting back to exercise
• Changes during perimenopause or menopause
• Or something just doesn't feel quite right

Appointments are available as early as tomorrow afternoon.

There's no obligation to schedule treatment afterward — sometimes you just need a place to start.

This past Monday, our doulas Alexandra Harper-Brees and Kristen Schell took Spinning Babies again to keep our skills sharp. Each time we take it, we learn something new! We're grateful to McLaren Greater Lansing for hosting the training. The Spinning Babies trainer, Tammy Ryan, was amazing.

In the second picture, Alexandra was happy to volunteer to allow Tammy to demo how to do one of their body balancing moves - the Jiggle. When done correctly, it's very calming and help release the fascia tissue which also helps regulate your nervous system.

One of our doulas - Keana Lofton was also going to be there but couldn't because - get this - she was at a birth haha. Doulas will drop everything to support their birthing families when we need them. ❤

Our other doulas are signed up to take Spinning Babies training at other locations.

We have an online postpartum prep class next week Wed on 6/24 from 6-8:30pm taught by Doula Cynthia Gabriel of Tree Town Doulas and she's also author of book "Natural Hospital Birth: Best of Both Worlds."

We had a student registered for this class twice! Once to attend with her spouse (he was excited to learn how to be a supportive father and partner) and once to attend with her mom. Grandma wanted to learn more about postpartum, what the latest recommendations are so that she can best support her daughter and grandson. Isn't that sweet? 😭🥹
