Our annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest just keeps getting better and better, and this year our talented Cypress Village team really outdid themselves! 🍂🧡

With 17 incredible entries from departments across the community, the creativity has been off the charts! From Violet Beauregarde turning into a blueberry in W***y Wonka 🫐 to The Dating Game, Disney Pixar’s Ratatouille 🐀, a candy corn pufferfish 🐡, and even a crocheted Minnie Mouse 🎀—there’s no shortage of imagination around here!

But now it’s time to pick a winner! 🏆

🗳️ TODAY is your LAST DAY to vote! Voting closes tomorrow at 9 AM, when we’ll tally up the votes to see which pumpkin takes the crown!

💜 Votes are just $1 each, and every dollar goes directly toward supporting the Alzheimer’s Association!

What a wonderful evening at the 2026 UNF Community Gala! 💙🦅

Cypress Village was proud to sponsor this special event and celebrate three of our very own residents—Karl Shaffer, Sarah Sharpe, and Gaynell Kind—who were honored with the UNF Healthcare Community Service Award for their outstanding volunteer efforts!

🌿 Karl Shaffer – For his leadership of our Garden Club, dedication to environmental stewardship, and countless hours creating and maintaining beautiful garden spaces throughout our community.

🌸 Sarah Sharpe – For bringing nature, creativity, and meaningful engagement to residents in our Healthcare Center and Memory Care through gardening and enrichment activities.

🎨 Gaynell Kind – For sharing her creativity and compassion through arts, crafts, and nature-inspired activities that bring joy and connection to fellow residents.

The evening also featured a wonderful keynote presentation by Scott Kashman, "The Art of Healthcare: Humor, Empathy and Insight in the Age of AI," followed by the awards celebration, live music, and plenty of dancing! 💃🎶

A heartfelt thank you to the University of North Florida's Brooks College of Health (unfbrookshealth) for recognizing the incredible contributions of our residents and hosting such a special event.

Once part of the Cypress Village family, always part of the Cypress Village family! 💙

Although our former Associate Executive Director has moved on to a well-deserved promotion with LCS in a regional finance leadership role, we still proudly claim her as one of our own!

We were so proud to see her serve as a panelist at the University of North Florida’s Healthcare Symposium, contributing to an important conversation on Senior Living in the Digital Age.

From her time as our Director of Financial Services and Associate Executive Director to the leadership and support she continues to provide through her role with LCS, her impact on Cypress Village is lasting.

She made us proud, as always! We are so grateful for all she has poured into our community and love seeing her continue to make a difference across the senior living industry. 💙

The cooler weather is finally giving us a taste of fall, and what better way to celebrate than with Oktoberfest! 🍂🥨🍻

Our Healthcare Center hosted a festive Family Night complete with delicious food, dancing, and live music by Robbie Trice!

We’re not sure who had more fun—our residents and patients or our team members decked out in traditional German attire! 🇩🇪

It was a wonderful evening bringing families, friends, and our Cypress Village team together for a little Oktoberfest fun!

🍰 Life is sweeter in The Pines!

Our Northern Pines Assisted Living neighborhood celebrated National Dessert Day this week, and we certainly didn’t need convincing to indulge in a little something sweet!

🍨 Fun fact: The word dessert comes from the French word desservir, meaning “to clear the table.” Thankfully, we’ve been making room for dessert ever since!

Sweet treats, sweeter company, and another delicious reason to celebrate life at Cypress Village! 💜

Our Cypress Village Visual Arts Group invited the First Coast Plein Air Painters to the shores of Lake Cypress to enjoy a day of creativity and connection to nature.

En plein air is a French expression meaning “in the open air,” referring to the practice of painting outdoors while drawing inspiration directly from the natural surroundings. 🖌️

And what a perfect day for it! With gorgeous weather, beautiful wildlife, and the peaceful scenery of Lake Cypress, there was no shortage of inspiration.

We love opportunities like these to bring people together through the arts and share the natural beauty of Cypress Village with our Jacksonville neighbors. 💚

💜 A story close to our hearts is making national waves!

We are incredibly proud to see our very own Cypress Village resident, Bill Holder, and the beautiful memory of his late wife, Caroline, featured in a nationwide story by the Alzheimer’s Association.

Caroline loved exploring the Flower Garden Banks, a breathtaking coral reef off the coast of Texas. After her passing in 2025 following a long journey with Alzheimer’s, Bill continues to honor her memory by walking toward a future without this devastating disease.

This year, Bill will carry the purple flower at the Jacksonville Walk to End Alzheimer’s Promise Garden, representing the loved ones we’ve lost.

And in a beautiful tribute to Caroline, whose birthday was in October, the Alzheimer’s Association is inviting supporters across our community to help her garden of hope continue to bloom. 💜🌸

October 12–18: Raise an additional $50 to earn a Purple Promise Garden Flower Pin in honor of Caroline or someone you love.

We are so proud of Bill and grateful that Caroline’s story is touching hearts far beyond Cypress Village. Her legacy of love lives on, and we’re honored to walk alongside him.

🥂✨ Five years or more. One incredible team. A whole lot to celebrate!

Last night, 140 guests gathered aboard the Royal Princess yacht for our annual Cypress Village Tenure Celebration, honoring team members who have dedicated five or more years of service to our community, along with their special guests! 🚢

We dressed up, enjoyed delicious food, danced, and took in the beautiful sights of downtown Jacksonville along the St. Johns River. Even the rainy skies cleared just in time for a wonderful evening on the water! 🌆

But this night was about so much more than work anniversaries.

These are the people who have helped shape the culture of Cypress Village. They’ve served our residents with compassion, weathered some of the most challenging seasons in senior living, including a global pandemic, and stood alongside one another through it all.

Somewhere along the way, we became more than coworkers. We became friends, collaborators, confidants, and a team that genuinely loves what we do and who we get to do it with.

We even had a few extra reasons to celebrate! 🥳 Edgar Par’s birthday and Katie and Pedro Amador’s 10th wedding anniversary! What an honor that they chose to share these special milestones with their Cypress Village family.

A huge thank-you to our amazing Human Resources team for making this beautiful evening possible!

We often talk about the incredible community we’ve built for our residents, but nights like this remind us that we’ve built something just as special among our staff.
