ACS HEALTHCARE TIP OF THE DAY
- DEHYDRATION

ITS Hot hot hot 🥵 outside

If you’re having symptoms of dehydration such as weakness, fatigue, excessive thirst, dry mouth and tongue, thick saliva, dizziness, crying without tears, dark yellow urine, PLEASE SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION.

Home remedies include:
-Cool down if heat related, remove excess clothing,
apply damp towels or spray mist to skin. Get to an area with cool blowing air.

- if vomiting, don’t eat or drink until after 20 mins. Then take small sips of liquid.

- Increase fluid intake as tolerated. Try clear liquids diet- Gatorade, Ginger Ale, Clear Broth, Jello, or Flavoured Ice in small amounts every 10-15 minutes.

-Ages 1 year and younger:
1 teaspoonful of Pedialyte every 5 minutes and increase as tolerated. If formula fed, give more pedialyte.
If child vomits wait 30 mins before giving food or drink.

-Avoid dairy or any milk products x 24 -48hours..

- After tolerating a clear liquid diet for 8 hours and vomiting has stopped, add a bland diet ( rice, potatoes, soda crackers, pretzels, dry toast, applesauce, bananas.

These are home remedies that work, please consult with your provider first for all emergencies.

Abdominal Pain? ?????
-Rest.
-Consume clear liquids- broth, tea, ginger ale, apple juice, flavored ice, gelatin.
-After 12 hours without vomiting or diarrhea, try a bland diet ( plain rice, potatoes, bread, crackers, banana, dry cereal.
- Do not take Acetaminophen if liver or kidney problems. Follow all prescriptions given by doctor.
-Use a heating pad or warm towel to stomache.
-Notify your doctor if your pain becomes persistent or worsens
