So many tasks and so many hats when you’re a business owner. Whether that’s starting from scratch or building on something well-established. With so many irons in the fire and demands on your time, you outsource; you delegate some functions to talented professionals so things get done and goals are met and skills you don’t have are covered by someone who does.

It’s the same with style. Getting guidance for your personal style is a good business decision because you reflect the business and the. business reflects you.

Physical, cognitive, spiritual, relational, internal, external, long-term or new … struggles come in all forms and we all have them. I’m not prone to getting emotional, but this client’s experience genuinely choked me up for a second. Yes, I knew what I was seeing for her, but more importantly I was able to see HER seeing HERSELF in a new way (maybe for the first time?) in a quiet, reserved, but resolute way. From there, the rest of the experience began to really flow. Not without some remaining hesitation and struggle, however (this experience is NOT instantaneous, nor should it be!) … but the decisions came more readily and the awareness became more acute and the joy ramped up and the confidence increased.

She took the chance and made the investment in herself. And the payoff … so good.

I don’t know what specifically made this client contact me… but I’m immensely grateful to whatever that was. Because I’ve known her and her value in experience, wisdom, compassion, innovativeness, tirelessness for quite a long time, but I didn’t know that she struggled with how she was showing up in her life until we talked. After having worked together, now her impact can only be magnified. And it’s still on HER terms! She doesn’t have to change a single thing about her approach or her personality or her values… her style can open the doors and turn up the volume for her, while she remains exactly who she is.

Reasons clients have hired me (part 1)

This is a familiar scenario: being a caretaker means that you often put yourself dead last in the priority list. Attention is put towards establishing a healthy environment, ensuring well-being of your loved one, running to numerous doctor appointments, maintaining your role in the relationship as well as your many roles outside of it … and your sense of self goes on the back burner.

But honoring yourself is not only healthy for you, it’s also beneficial for the loved one you are or were caretaking. One of the first steps in honoring yourself is getting on track with your personal style. You’ve held many roles in your life … but the place you’re in now is new, and you’re not sure how to be in it feeling truly like yourself.

It’s no secret that I love colder temperatures (saying it louder for those in the back: I LOVE COLDER TEMPERATURES!!! 😁) and this cozy season definitely makes me a hap-hap-happier girl. I love fleece, mittens, mugs, frost, fireplaces … you get the idea. But these days, my tolerance for being bodily-insulated is considerably lower. (I mean, sometimes all it takes to bring on a drenching sweat is standing up too fast! Biology sure loves to mix it up on us, doesn’t it? 😆) So here are ways I’m staying true to my chill-loving soul without spontaneously combusting when those episodes hit. And for those not susceptible to this phenomenon: these same principles hold up! So use ‘em and let’s enter into a stylishly cozy fall, shall we? 🍁🍁🍁
