🌍 World Breastfeeding Week 2026 | August 1–7

Every child deserves the healthiest possible start in life.

This World Breastfeeding Week 2026, let's champion the theme: "Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works."

Breastfeeding is more than nourishment—it saves lives.

Join us in promoting and supporting breastfeeding. By working together to provide mothers with the support they need—from pregnancy through the early years—we can create lasting positive change for generations to come.

If you've been putting off learning about breastfeeding because you don't know where to start — this is where you start. 💛

Our free Breastfeeding 101 class is coming to the Northland, and we'd love to see you there. Emily Wegener, BSN, RN, IBCLC — and recent Nightingale Award recipient at North Kansas City Hospital — will walk you through everything you actually need to know before your baby arrives.
No overwhelm, no judgment, just real support from someone who has truly earned her flowers. 🌸

One of the things that fascinates me most about breastfeeding is that breast milk isn't a static food.

It changes.

At the beginning of a feeding, milk is typically more watery, helping quench your baby's thirst. As the feeding continues, the fat content gradually increases, helping your baby feel satisfied and full.

Think about that for a second.

Your body doesn't just make milk.

It makes hydration. It makes nutrition. It makes comfort. It makes connection.

For months, sometimes years, your body quietly adapts to your baby's needs without you ever having to think about it.

And somehow we still hear people say, "It's just milk."

No.

It's one of the most remarkable biological processes on Earth.

A living food, made by a living body, for a growing human.

The more I learn about breastfeeding, the more convinced I become that mothers don't give themselves nearly enough credit for the incredible things their bodies do every single day. ❤️

If this amazed you too, share it with someone who needs a reminder that what mothers do is extraordinary.
