Things are happening!!🔥🔥🔥

We’re hard at work and can’t wait to bring the gift of sauna to Kenmore! Stay tuned for more updates…. 🔥🔥🔥

If you’ve been on the Burke Gilman Trail in Kenmore, you’ve probably seen me around.

I’m David – a co-founder of Varm Seder Sauna (alongside my life partner Jennifer).

I have a passion for sauna and the community it creates. I was excited about the opportunity to bring that to Kenmore with Varm Seder and contribute to the social experience on the campus with our friends and neighbors at Copperworks Distilling - Kenmore and De La Soil

We’re looking forward to delivering the gift of sauna in mid-November. For now, see you at the construction site.

WE HAVE WALLS! And a bright orange door 🧡

Our construction crew has been ✨ killing it ✨

Off our checklist:
✅ Sauna walls are up
✅ Hooked up water and gas
✅ Barrel waterfall shower posts were installed
✅ Shed insulation mayhem is complete

The shed, which will serve as our check-in and merch shop, had to be jacked up so David could install an insane amount of foam insulation under it. Not fun. Jacking up the shed resulted in the jacks failing and causing the shed to list to the side, twice. The third time was a charm, with jack stands, pavers and wood to keep it stable as it was lifted inch by inch.

Unfortunately during all of this, the shed moved about a foot (oops). David came up with an idea to move it back, and almost 4 hours later, BAM, all done. Blood, sweat, and tears tbh.

It’s hard to spend so much time on the parts of the build that are not visibly rewarding or showing progress.

Slow progress = better than zero progress.

Last week was CRAZY 😫

We’ve been looking forward to getting construction going for SO LONG now. We were counting down the days until Monday.

Then something big happened.

I unexpectedly went to the hospital. (I’m okay!)

I was in San Francisco when I felt a pain in my shoulder. Turns out, my lung collapsed. This had happened to me before, but they couldn’t identify why.

Luckily I had an amazing transportation crew 🚗 since I wasn’t allowed to fly with a collapsed lung (cabin pressure = bad). My friends drove me up to Eugene. Then David drove allllll the way down to Oregon to pick me up, turn back around to Kenmore, and start construction in the morning. Truly a team effort. Go team!

The good news? I’m having surgery in December to fix it. AND THINGS ARE HAPPENING MY FRIENDS!

We’ll post some construction updates soon.

WE 👏🏻 GOT 👏🏻 THE 👏🏻 SHOWERS 👏🏻

One by one, our 4 showers traveled over 5,000 miles in boxes that got absolutely wrecked, but they made it.

In perfect shape, nbd (we’re freaking out).

From sweaty to seriously refreshing. No plunging required. Rinse and repeat.

All controlled by you, so we encourage a little bravery here.

The showers are crafted by Serg, owner of CamplifeUA. Serg is located in Kharkiv, Ukraine 🇺🇦 Search “CamplifeUA” on Etsy to support his shop.

If you’re reading this, it’s your sign to try our ✨ brand new✨ social sauna this fall!

Buuuut first… what IS a social sauna anyway?

It’s a place to chat. Hang out. Build community.

AKA break the ❄️Seattle Freeze ❄️ and meet your neighbors.

Less silent zen, more sweat and conversation. No need to whisper in here.

We’re super excited to show you the final results.

But for now, we’re channeling Bob the Builder energy and getting to work.

Carrying huge stones to build the Egyptian pyramids required both manpower and clever engineering.

When dragging materials across land, they used rollers and ropes.

Just like this. But we’ve got a truck.

At our future site, the shed was originally used as a trail-side bike shop, later transforming into a coffee shop, then a storage shed.

The shed has high ceilings and plenty of natural light; we knew it would be the perfect space to welcome guests.

We’re dedicated to re-using materials whenever possible, and keeping the local history.

When we needed a way to move it, we relied on modern technology: YouTube. “How to move a shed” led to our unique technique.

The shed will serve as our office and guest check-in. It will also be our official merch shop (stay tuned 👀).

With a healthy dose of sweat equity, we’re excited for the end result.
