Join us Tuesday evening for land stewardship and learning with KLT! โข ๐ฟThis plant is False Solomon Seal, a member of the lily family that is native to woodlands across North America in the US region. The young shoots, leaves, and roots are edible and have historically been processed for culinary and medicinal purposes AND...they can be found in the Forest Sanctuary! Join us this coming Tuesday, August 27th to help cultivate native plants like this one throughout this maturing community food forest through seed-saving and removing non-native, opportunistic plants to help promote a healthy, balanced flora. Other plants shown like milkw**d and bee balm from the Pollinator Sanctuary at the Forest Sanctuary will also be part of this seed saving effort to help stimulate biodiversity.
Weโve been doing this work for 5 years now, thinning out overpopulated non-native trees like Norway maples and planting native sugar maple, oak and pawpaws, and the growing diversity, maturity and edibility is always here for you to enjoy! Come have lunch or forage for wineberries (when they are in season) even if you canโt make the volunteer event.
