“What if I move during cataract surgery?” 👁️

It’s one of the most common concerns patients have before surgery.

The good news:
✅ Relaxing medication helps keep you comfortable
✅ An eyelid holder prevents blinking
✅ Your eye is stabilized during surgery
✅ Small movements are normal and usually not a problem

Most patients are surprised by how smooth and easy the experience feels.

When patients send us a note like this, it makes our week! We work hard to make everyone feel comfortable and cared for, and she's right that we do have the very best staff around!

What causes a cataract? The short answer: getting older. 👁️ Almost everyone will develop one eventually — but UV exposure, smoking, diabetes, past eye injuries, and genetics can all speed things up. The good news? Cataracts are very treatable, and surgery is one of the safest procedures in medicine. Drop a question in the comments or book a visit to learn where your vision stands.

Not all premium lenses are the same 👁️

EDOF lenses sit between traditional options—offering more range than monofocal lenses with fewer halos than multifocals.

They’re a great fit for patients who want more visual freedom but don’t want to compromise quality or deal with night vision side effects.

The key is choosing the right lens for the right patient.

Glaucoma treatment has changed 👁️

For many patients, SLT laser is now one of the best first-line treatments for glaucoma—often outperforming daily eye drops in research studies.

✅ In-office procedure
✅ Gentle and well tolerated
✅ Very low risk
✅ May reduce or eliminate the need for drops

Earlier treatment means better long-term protection for your vision.

A new premium lens is here 👀

I’m starting to implant the PureSee IOL this month as an early access surgeon. It’s designed to provide range of vision without the halos and glare we often see with traditional multifocal lenses.

If it delivers on early results, this could be a big step forward for patients considering cataract surgery.

More to come as I gain real-world experience.

Most people are surprised to learn how quick cataract surgery really is.

⏱ Surgery time: about 5–10 minutes
⏱ Total time at the center: about 2–3 hours

The procedure itself is fast, gentle, and highly refined — but we take extra time before and after to make sure everything is safe and comfortable.

If you’ve been putting off cataract surgery because it sounds intimidating, the reality is much easier than most expect.

The most important decision in cataract surgery isn’t the surgery itself — it’s the lens you choose.

Every patient has to decide:
👉 Sharper, higher-quality vision
👉 Or a greater range of vision with less dependence on glasses

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer — it depends entirely on your goals and lifestyle.

If you’re considering cataract surgery, this is the conversation that matters most.
