Sensory stimulation has been shown to enhance emotional well-being in an individual in cognitive decline by offering comfort, calm, familiarity, and contentment. Some examples are lighting a candle, listening to music, looking at photographs, baking, or watching a favorite tv show. These activities can help reduce anxiety, agitation, and depression by creating a soothing, relaxing environment. Sensory stimulation can also encourage communication and interaction by helping one remain engaged with their surroundings.
