This is the most valuable thing I’ve used CHAT GPT for…

Which also shows how little I know…

But I still think knowing your number one weakness is worth it…

Because in leadership the first step is knowing yourself.

Without knowing yourself, how do you know what to change to?

Open your ChatGPT and ask it “what are my red flags?”.

If you’ve been using it frequently, you will be astonished at how accurate it is.

My wife might not be a fan of this, but it serves me in other areas 😂

As an athlete and business.

Something that benefits me is a “short-term memory”.

Before I used to obsess over the details of “what had already happened”.

Now, as quickly as possible, I try to focus on what I need to do right now to create the outcome I want.

Mistakes will happen, I only dwell on it enough to make sure I don’t repeat it.

Then it’s into figuring out what needs to get done.

FAIL. LEARN. ADJUST. REPEAT.

I used to misunderstand pressure…

So I didn’t know how to handle it.

Because I thought it was a physical problem.

When it was really my reaction time when it came to high stakes decision making…

I overcame that by putting myself in positions to make difficult decisions quickly.

What used to look like challenges started looking like opportunities.

Time took care of the rest.

Most of us have goals or ambitions that we failed to reach.

Because of a little known not-so-secret.

We were missing a plan.

We spent days dreaming of an outcome without knowing what the steps should look like.

Your plan doesn’t need to be perfect and it will probably change as you go.

But taking a leap of faith without one is expecting to fail.

Sometimes we glorify things that we shouldn’t.

Like being a leader.

It’s another important job that can leave an impact.

But that’s not why you should do it.

Picture a runner.

For the runner, the sore muscles and achy joints are worth the “runner’s high”

For a leader, the reward of getting people to perform higher than they believed, needs to be worth the sleepless nights and being disliked by many.

If you really love it, you’ll keep going when things get difficult.

You don’t lead so you can be friends.

You lead to move the people you serve forward.

You will absolutely get crushed if you prioritize being liked.

If leading feels natural, that should scare you.

If leading feels unnatural, you’re probably doing it right.

The biggest problem with communication is…

We think it happened.

Because words don’t have meanings.

A word’s meaning is shared.

Before I understood that, it led to a lot of needless suffering.

When I started asking more clarifying questions like “what do you mean by that?”…

I stopped operating on assumptions that left us both blind as a bat.

When your words share the same meaning.

You have clarity.

Clarity is kindness.

Just because you said something doesn’t mean it’s what they heard.

I’ve done that too many times in the past.

Now I know that clarity is kindness.

Instead of defaulting to assumptions like I used to.

I try to get deeper by probing with questions like:

What exactly did you mean by (word they used)?

The more time you spend clarifying what the words they’re using mean the more you understand eachother.

Think ego is bad?

Think again.

Stop caring so much 😂
