Breast development begins at 4 weeks old! 🤯 Our IBCLC taught us this the other day so we thought we would share!

During fetal development, a structure called the mammary ridge—or “milk line” forms along both sides of the body, stretching from the armpit area toward the groin.

Most of this ridge disappears as the baby develops, leaving behind the breast tissue and ni***es.

But sometimes, a small portion remains… which can result in an extra ni**le or extra breast tissue! 👶🏼 Extra ni***es or breast tissue are more common than you might think—occurring in about 1–6% of women.

Can anyone help? TW: miscarriage

Miscarriages affect many families. They need miscarriage kits whether they have their baby at home or hospital, so they can be supported in their time of grief in a way that also recognizes the dignity of the baby. These kits can also help parents relay important medical information to their physician or midwife (such as measuring blood loss).

To my knowledge, none of the organizations in town provide miscarriage kits. Some doctors’ offices have them, but they can be hard to get if it’s the middle of the night or on the weekend. Also, sometimes the last place you want to be is at an office with a bunch of pregnant moms….

What I would like is to have weatherproof boxes filled with several sized kits placed outside of churches in order for families to have a safe place to pick up a kit anytime, day or night.

To accomplish this, I have a goal of placing 4 to 5 boxes (each with several kits) at 4 to 5 churches around Lafayette Parish. Families do not need to buy the kit, but there would be a suggested donation (but it’s not necessary).

Needs:
5 weatherproof boxes
Kits (roughly $26ea, need 25)
Churches to host (4-5)

My instinct was to ask for someone from Our Saviors Church and the Catholic Church. Between those two, I think we could cover a lot of ground.

In the meantime, I have 5 medium sized kits (four English, one in Spanish) if anyone needs one in the Lafayette Area.
