Today, our little kitchen became our classroom.

We read "Apple Cake," a sweet story centered around gratitude, and then brought the story to life by making our own apple cake with simple, natural ingredients.

Lilith measured flour, poured ingredients, stirred the batter, and practiced using measuring cups along the way. Real-life math, fine motor skills, reading comprehension, following directions, and a lesson in gratitude all wrapped up in one little cake. 🤎

We don't have to make learning complicated for it to be meaningful. The little hands, the flour-covered counter, the excitement of watching something come together, and the pride on her face when she realized she made it herself.

Sometimes, we just need to slow down and let them help. 🍎

Our Apple Cake
• 2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
• 1½ tsp baking powder
• ½ tsp salt
• ½ cup butter, softened
• ½ cup unsweetened applesauce
• ½ cup Bayou Country Honey honey
• 2 eggs
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 2–3 apples, peeled and chopped
• 1 tsp cinnamon

Mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in one bowl. In another, cream the softened butter with the honey, then mix in the applesauce, eggs, and vanilla. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, fold in the apples, and pour into a greased cake pan.

Bake at 350°F for about 35 minutes, or until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.

A little less refined sugar, a lot of hands-on learning, and one very proud little baker.

Changing the way I talk to myself about homeschooling has made such a difference.

I don't *have to* homeschool my 4-year-old. I *get to.*

There are absolutely sacrifices that come with our choice to have me home instead of bringing in an additional income. I won't pretend that part is always easy. But when I look at what we gain in exchange, I find myself feeling incredibly grateful.

I get to light a candle and make our little homeschool space feel special.

I get to bake something together and call it a lesson.

I get to take her to the library, choose books, and build our week around stories.

I get to witness the little moments that I might otherwise have missed.

Homeschooling isn't about having a perfect rhythm or making every day magical. It's about choosing, again and again, to be present for these years while I have them.

And today, I'm choosing gratitude for the privilege of saying:

I don't have to. I get to.🕯️

A little morning treat for this nursing mama 🤎☕️

I had the privilege of trying out My Breast Friend Lactation Cookies LLC new lactation latte while she’s working on it, and it was SO good. Such a delicious little morning treat, especially during these breastfeeding days when I’m always looking for something yummy to enjoy with breakfast. 100% recommend for your nursing needs.

This morning’s breakfast was two eggs, a mandarin, and a slice of Celestial Creations' Dark Chocolate Espresso Sourdough 🍳🍊🍫

That bread is seriously so good. It’s perfectly sweet with that little espresso + dark chocolate flavor, and it’s the perfect addition when I want breakfast to feel a little more like dessert.

And even though I make and sell my own sourdough with Wild Mama Sourdough, I genuinely love supporting my friends and other local creators. There’s room for all of us, and Celestial Creations, located in Youngsville, always has the most fun flavors that I absolutely adore.

Definitely check them out if you’re local and love sourdough! 🤎

One of my biggest priorities postpartum has been making sure I’m actually feeding myself enough, not just grabbing whatever I can between nursing sessions.

Today came out to about 102g of protein, spread throughout the day:

• Coconut cream overnight oats
• Cilantro lime chicken protein power bowl + orange + mini Vintage Cola OLIPOP
• 2 boiled eggs + Juiced by J Recharge
• Mexican street corn + beef + potatoes

I’m not trying to eat perfectly, restrict, or follow some unrealistic postpartum diet.

I’m focusing on protein, fiber, healthy fats, nourishing carbohydrates + plenty of food because breastfeeding is demanding, and I need to be nourished too. And yes, there’s room for a fun little OLIPOP.

This is what worked for me today, not a prescription for what every breastfeeding mom needs. Your appetite, calorie needs, milk supply and nutritional needs can look completely different.

Mama, you deserve to be fed too. 🫶🏻

Okay, this is one of those motherhood stories I’ll probably never forget. 🤎

I went into the hospital thinking I was prepared for birth… and then everything completely changed. I ended up being rushed into an emergency C-section, and in all of the chaos, I somehow LOST my Kindred Bravely pants at the hospital.

At the time, I obviously had much bigger things to worry about than a pair of pants. 😅

But when Kindred Bravely heard what happened, they sent me a new pair.

And honestly? It wasn’t even about the pants. It was the fact that they cared enough to hear my story and do something kind during a really overwhelming season of my life.

As moms, we interact with so many brands that make products for pregnancy and postpartum, but every once in a while, a company does something that makes you think, “Okay, THIS is why I love supporting brands that genuinely care about moms.” 🤎

So I wanted to share the story because their kindness really stuck with me. Thanks, Kindred Bravely 🤎

Kinda chic to nourish the whole family. 🤎

To care about what goes into our bodies without obsessing over every bite.

To eat enough.
To feed our babies real food.
To make toddler snacks from scratch when we can and reach for the easy option when we can’t.
To choose nourishment over restriction.
To teach our kids that food is something to enjoy, not something to fear.
To remember that feeding ourselves well is part of caring for the people we love.

Pregnancy, postpartum, breastfeeding, starting solids, toddlerhood... nutrition looks different in every season.

And I think it’s pretty chic to make room for both nourishment and real life.
