Hot take:

Your kids are not the reason you can’t take care of yourself.

I say that as a mom of two.

My workouts get interrupted.
Someone always needs a snack.
Some days my daughter is literally climbing on me in the middle of a set.

But I’ve learned that waiting for the perfect season, more time, or less chaos is a losing game.

Your kids don’t need a perfect mom.

They need a mom who shows them that her health matters too.

A mom who keeps promises to herself.
A mom who prioritizes her well-being.
A mom who understands that taking care of herself isn’t selfish.

It’s leadership.

Because one day they’ll model what they watched you do.

The truth is, taking 30 minutes to move your body isn’t taking away from your kids.

Showing up exhausted, burnt out, and constantly putting yourself last isn’t serving them either.

Your health deserves a place on the calendar too.

And honestly? That’s a lesson worth letting your kids witness. ❤️

As someone who has lost 75 pounds, here are 3 things I wish more women knew about their metabolism:

1. Your metabolism is not broken.

It’s adaptive.

Your body is constantly responding to the environment you create through nutrition, movement, stress, sleep, and consistency. Most women think they’re fighting against their metabolism when in reality they’re fighting against years of habits that taught their body to adapt.

2. Eating less is not always the answer.

In fact, for a lot of women, it’s the thing keeping them stuck.

There is a difference between being in a strategic calorie deficit and chronically under-eating. If you’re surviving on coffee, protein bars, and willpower all week only to feel out of control by the weekend, the answer probably isn’t eating even less.

3. Not all exercise creates the same result.

I’ve strength trained for years.

But one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that there is a difference between exercising and training with a purpose.

The way you train should match the goal you’re trying to achieve, your current season of life, your recovery capacity, and your body. More isn’t always better. Harder isn’t always better. The best program is the one that supports the outcome you actually want while allowing you to recover and stay consistent.

The truth is most women don’t need more restriction, more cardio, or more punishment.

They need a plan that actually fits their body.

Everyone wants to know the “secret” until they realize it wasn’t another detox, cutting carbs, living on salads, or doing hours of cardio.

The reason I can go on vacation, eat with flexibility, enjoy dinner with my family, have a margarita, and not spiral every Monday is because I stopped destroying my metabolism in the name of being “healthy.”

Sometimes I sit back and think how easy it would’ve been to become someone I don’t even recognize.

Bitter.
Angry.
Closed off.
Done trying.

Because I had every reason to.

Life didn’t go “as planned.”
I went through things at a young age that could’ve easily hardened me…
and if I’m being honest, for a while, they did.

There were moments I questioned everything.
Moments I didn’t recognize myself.
Moments where it felt easier to shut down than to keep showing up.

But at some point… I had to make a decision.

Stay here…
or become someone I could actually be proud of.

And that’s the part people don’t talk about.

You don’t magically become confident.
You don’t magically become happy.
You don’t magically feel like yourself again.

You choose it.
Over and over and over again.

Even when it’s uncomfortable.
Even when it’s inconvenient.
Even when it would be easier to stay exactly where you are.

Because here’s the truth—

A lot of women don’t lose because they’re incapable.

They lose because they stay in it.

They sit in the stress.
They sit in the overwhelm.
They sit in the story that “this is just how it is now.”
