Dr. Vanessa Sepulveda serves as a Principal Investigator at CMRC Headlands Research. Board-certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics, she combines decades of clinical care with academic leadership and extensive research experience in Alzheimer's disease and related cognitive disorders.
As a recognized leader in the field, Dr. Sepulveda has served on the Alzheimer's Association Scientific Program Committee and has presented her research at leading scientific meetings, including the Alzheimer's Association International Conference (AAIC). In 2015, the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society recognized "Un Café por el Alzheimer", the community education initiative she founded to raise awareness about Alzheimer's disease in Puerto Rico. Since then, the initiative has continued, year after year, to educate and accompany patients, caregivers, and the Puerto Rican community through accessible, evidence-based information and outreach efforts.
Her research has focused on Alzheimer's disease and related dementias in Hispanic and Latino populations, including studies on the gut microbiome's role in cognitive decline and the development of tools to support family caregivers. As a Principal Investigator at Headlands Research Puerto Rico, she is committed to expanding access to clinical trials that bring promising therapies to patients while advancing the science of Alzheimer's disease. Throughout her career, Dr. Sepulveda has remained committed to the belief that advancing Alzheimer's care requires both scientific discovery and continuous community education. We're proud to have her expertise strengthening our network of investigators.
