Sunshine is important, but you should make sure not to burn.
☀️ Infrared light in the early morning helps to precondition your skin for exposure to stronger rays throughout the day.
🍣 Getting more Omega 3 fatty acids in your diet dials back inflammation.
🗑️ Remove seed oils from your diet. These are very high in Omega 6 fatty acids. We need Omega 6, but not in the quantities our modern diets include. These oils oxidize quickly and push your body toward inflammation.
⛱️ When your skin has reached its limit you have several options: get into the shade, use clothing that provides UV protection and as the last option use a mineral based (zinc oxide) sunblock. Mineral based sunblock stays on the skin and reflects UV rays rather than being absorbed like other chemical based sunscreens.
🕶️ Stop wearing sunglasses every time you step outside. Your eyes are designed to gather information from the natural sunlight they are receiving to relay that to your brain. Sunglasses are blocking some of those UV rays and your brain is not receiving the full picture. You should still wear sunglasses to protect your eyes in certain conditions : on the water where the light is being reflected (same goes for sand and snow), when you are driving - the windshield is already blocking IV rays anyway, riding your bike (bug and dust shield).
If you are not used to being in the sun, you should work your time up gradually, this is called building a solar callous.
Enjoy the rays, but be safe!
