🎬 Reminder β€” Moana Sensory-Friendly Showing is TODAY!

To the 5 families who won tickets in our raffle, don’t forget your showing is today at 11:00 a.m.! We hope you have a great time! πŸ’š

For the rest of our community, there are still plenty of seats available at Cinemark 22 and IMAX, and tickets are matinee priced at $10.25. See the attached image for current seat availability (subject to change.)

We really want to encourage our families to support businesses when they make the effort to provide sensory-friendly & adaptive opportunities for our community. These programs need participation in order to continue.

When attendance is low, we may unintentionally send the message that there isn’t a need for this type of programming in the Antelope Valley. And when businesses don’t see the participation, it becomes harder for them to justify continuing to offer it.

We know the need is here. But we also have to show up when these opportunities are made available to us. Supporting them today helps make sure they’re still available for our families tomorrow. πŸ’š

If a sensory-friendly movie environment works for your family, come out & enjoy Moana today at 11:00 a.m.! 🌊🎬

🚨 Calling All Dads...

You can only reorganize the garage so many times. 😏

Besides... your spouse has officially approved you to leave the house for a few hours. πŸ˜†

So who's ready for another Father's Meet-Up? Just a hang out night with other dads who understand the journey. No pressure, no formal agenda... just good conversation, a few laughs, and an opportunity to connect with others who get it.

πŸ‘Š We're also looking for one awesome dad to help organize and lead future Father's Meet-Ups. If you'd like to help build this group or know someone who would... we'd love to hear from you!

πŸ“§ [email protected]

Last month we hosted our 1st Dad's Night Out. We invited 10–15 dads, and 3 came.

Were we hoping for more? Of course we were! But after talking with many of the dads in our community, we realized something...

Many shared that they simply aren't used to taking time for themselves or going out with the guys. They're so busy being providers, caregivers & supporting their families that somewhere along the way, their own social lives have taken a back seat.

So instead of seeing just 3 dads, we saw men who took the first step. They laughed, shared stories, enjoyed some food, played golf & ultimately had the opportunity to connect with others who truly understand their journey.

So yes... there were only three dads. But it was never about the numbers. Those three reminded us exactly why we need to keep doing this.

Sometimes building a community starts with just a few people willing to show up.

To the dads who came... thank you. You helped start something we truly believe will grow. πŸ’š

Here's to the next Dad's Night Out!

A Heartfelt Thank You to The Rescue Mission Alliance – Antelope Valley Dream Center πŸ™

We are incredibly grateful to The Rescue Mission Alliance – Antelope Valley Dream Center for their generous donation of 100 bags of groceries for the families registered to attend our Back-to-School & Disability Resource Fair.

These groceries are more than just food... they help families prepare healthy, balanced meals while easing the strain on household budgets.

For many families in the disability community, everyday living comes with significantly higher costs. Therapies, medical appointments, medications, adaptive equipment, specialized diets, and transportation often leave little room in the budget for unexpected expenses. Donations like this help relieve some of that financial pressure, allowing families to focus on meeting the unique needs of their loved ones.

Every month, Antelope Valley Dream Center serves thousands of individuals and families experiencing food insecurity, providing reliable access to nutritious food and compassionate support. We admire their commitment to serving our community.

To the entire team at The Rescue Mission Alliance – Antelope Valley Dream Center, thank you for standing alongside our families. Your generosity helps ensure that children with disabilities and their families begin the school year with greater stability.

P.S. Join us tomorrow, Friday, August 7, from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Registration is still open! https://forms.gle/LTW1GrLcCv6WFfVeA

πŸ’ˆ A Haircut. A Fresh Start. A Gift of Kindness.

Every act of kindness has the power to make a lasting impact, and today we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Rafa the Barber for generously donating his time, talent, and heart to provide FREE haircuts at our upcoming Back-to-School & Disability Resource Fair.

For many families in the disability community, something as routine as getting a haircut can be incredibly challenging. Children and adults with sensory sensitivities may experience anxiety, fear, or discomfort throughout the process. It takes a very special barber... someone with extraordinary patience, compassion, understanding, and skill to create an experience where they feel safe, respected, and comfortable.

Rafa isn't just donating haircuts... he's helping our children walk into the new school year with confidence. That kind of generosity goes far beyond a haircut.

Rafa, thank you for choosing to serve our community with such kindness. Thank you for your patience, your understanding, and for recognizing that every child deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and care. Your willingness to meet our families where they are means more than words can express.

πŸ₯ž A Sweet New Dream Begins... πŸ’•

One of the greatest joys of serving our community is watching our youth discover their talents, build confidence, and take the very first steps toward achieving their dreams.

Today, we're so excited to introduce Sweets by CuΓ±is, a brand-new mini pancake business created by two amazing young entrepreneurs from our special needs community. Their passion, creativity, and hard work have come together to create something truly special, and we couldn't be prouder to support them as they begin this exciting journey.

As a special treat, Sweets by CuΓ±is will be joining us at our Back-to-School & Disability Resource Fair and will be serving FREE mini pancakes to all families who have registered for the event! πŸ₯ž

We hope you enjoy their delicious creations, and take a moment to encourage these incredible young entrepreneurs. Every successful business starts with someone willing to give them a chance. One customer, one kind word, one show of support can make all the difference one mini pancake at a time. 🌱πŸ₯ž

Why are we meeting at The Workz?

This past April, The Workz opened their doors to our autism community by hosting an Autism Awareness event and generously providing free meals to families.

As a small, self-funded nonprofit, we believe in supporting the businesses that support our community. Tonight is our opportunity to say thank you by enjoying dinner together at a local business that has shown kindness and inclusion.

Thank you for choosing to volunteer your time. Your willingness to serve helps create a welcoming, inclusive experience for our community with disabilities and their families.

We can't wait to see you tonight!

⚽️ Adaptive soccer will always have a special place in our hearts.

For about 12 years, my son proudly participated in AYSO's adaptive soccer program, and I had the honor of serving as the team mom every season (phew... that's a long time! πŸ˜…). As volunteers, we did our best to create a welcoming and accepting environment where every player felt like they belonged.

Back then, the program was known as AYSO VIP (Very Important Player). A few years ago, it was renamed AYSO EPIC – Everyone Plays In our Community, but its mission of inclusion has remained the same.

Why do we love adaptive soccer?

Because it gives children and adults with disabilities the opportunity to be part of a real team. It helps build confidence, friendships, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Most importantly, every player is celebrated for who they are... not for what they can or can't do.

πŸ“£ Here's the exciting news!

EPIC is officially back with Lancaster AYSO Region 91! While registration had already closed, the EPIC team has graciously agreed to reopen registration exclusively for our followers until 9:00 p.m. tonight.

If you've been looking for an inclusive outdoor adaptive sport, I truly encourage you to give EPIC a try. Register today! You will initially be placed on the waitlist and then contacted to complete payment as spots become available.
https://www.ayso91.org/

⚽ Practices begin tomorrow!
πŸ—“ Every Tuesday & Thursday
πŸ•• 6:00 p.m.
πŸ“ Field #19 – Lancaster National Soccer Center
πŸ† Season: August 3 – November 7
🚩 10 Saturday games throughout the season.

The flyer includes all the information you'll need, including registration details.

Thank you to all of the volunteers who continue making adaptive sports possible for our community. Your dedication gives so many children, teens, and adults the opportunity to experience the joy of being part of a team. πŸ’™
