University of Cambridge:
Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities

Announces an Event for Post Doctorates and Early Career Researchers in honour of this month’s World Mental Health Day.

ECR Assembly: Welcoming & The Magic Behind Improving Mental Health for SHAPE ECRs

Presented by Dr. Joshua Jacob Fitzgerald (Faculty of History)
Featuring Guest Speaker: Paul Draper (Mentalist and Anthropologist)
18 Oct. 2024

Summary
The ECR Assembly warmly welcomes SHAPE postdocs to an event in honour of this month’s World Mental Health Day.

This will be an informative lunch-and-learn, featuring a stupefying magical performance by Paul Draper followed by a useful conversation about mental health services for ECRs in Cambridge. Reps will expand on basic services and offer links to answers, helping us mark World Mental Health Day 9th October. We will also highlight current UCAM Research Culture initiatives, Career Services opportunities and a variety of Postdoc Academy and Postdocs of Cambridge Society information, helping ECRs old and new on their pathways to better experiences in the months to come.

This is paired with a top-shelf, inspirational performance and talk by guest mentalist and anthropologist Paul W. Draper. Focus on the serious matter of mental health whilst also enjoying the mental gymnastics of mentalism with Mr. Draper. A successful anthropologist and magician, Draper has recently been inducted into the UK’s prestigious Magic Circle and regularly gives motivational speeches for universities and corporations in the States.

Come to be spellbound and stay until the pizza and drinks magically disappear!

Just got my Flu and Covid shots.

Happy to have the added protection before FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention this weekend and my European tour starting next week that includes stops at The Magic Circle and the United Nations.

Not looking forward to the fever and being sick tonight that I know is coming. But I’ll feel better by tomorrow.

About to run into the grocery store to get meds and treats for my stay-in movie night tonight that I plan with each round of vaccines. See you on the other side.
