I became a business owner young… before I really understood business, boundaries, grief, nervous systems, relationships, or how fast life can change.

At 20, I thought hustle and passion were enough. Now at 45, I know investing in your skills, your mindset, and your healing matters just as much.

I also would’ve stopped wasting so much time trying to be loved correctly by people who were never capable of it.

And I would’ve spent more time with the people I loved while life was still simple enough to just sit together.

The older I get, the more I realize success means very little if you’re disconnected from yourself and the people that matter most.

But I also think every version of us learns when they’re ready.

Apparently shaking ass and nervous system regulation is a controversial combination. 😌

Just kidding!! But in all seriousness… the response to Hip Hop yoga this week has honestly been wild in the best way. Thank you for seeing me! Hip Hop means so much to me and so has dance and yoga.

I’ve been teaching this workshop/class for 9 years starting in Vegas and also in AZ.

I think a lot of women are craving spaces where movement, music, fun, community, healing, and being fully yourself can all exist together. And let’s tell the truth us millennials and Gen Xers kinda miss the club!😜

Not everything regulating has to look silent, serious, or aesthetic.

Sometimes it looks like laughing, moving your twerking, sweating a little, and remembering you’re actually allowed to enjoy your life.

And clearly… some of y’all are ready 👀

Things that make sense once you realize I’m a therapist with ADHD who teaches hip-hop yoga and helps entrepreneurs understand their nuerospicy brain. 🤩🧠

I’m a therapist who believes nervous system regulation should actually be fun!

So here’s a short list of things that might be surprising to you that have been amazing for my nervous system:

-Hip Hop Yoga 😜
-Hobbies NOT tied to productivity
-Leaving the house
-Stepping out into the sunshine
-Being around safe people
-Dancing around my house w/the music very loud
-Listening to my “stim” playlist (songs on repeat)
-Laughing. Watching comedy or light type of shows at night before bed instead of dramas or suspense.

Your nervous system doesn’t always need more discipline. Sometimes it needs more life. More play and fun!

Save this as your reminder when you want some ideas on how to regulate. And don’t forget to shake dat a**!😜🍑

If I was your business strategist and you told me you wanted to host a retreat…
here’s where I’d have you start.

First you need a community.
Not just followers. People who trust you, engage with you, and already see you as someone they’d want to be in a room with.

Second I’d have you host something smaller first. A free or low-cost workshop, event, even a virtual session.
Not just for exposure but to practice holding space and warming up your audience. Give them a sneak peak of what you will give them at a full on retreat.

And third your numbers matter.
If you want 10 people at your retreat, you probably need at least 80 to 120 warm leads. People who have interacted with you, been in your world, or heard you speak.

People don’t just book retreats from one post. They book from trust built over time.

Bonus: don’t forget contracts not only do your attendees but for any vendors. Protect yourself and everyone else.

Late diagnosed with ADHD when I was 32 and at 44 as a licensed mental health professional I’m still learning about being neurodivergent.

Yesterday I had a really interesting but good conversation with a friend who feels like she struggles with ADHD symptoms within their business. We talked and related about a lot on similar things. But also how it looks different between us.

ADHD does not always look the same on two people and especially men and women. It also shows up in more than five ways, but these are probably the most common that I deal with on a daily weekly basis.
