Mrigasana (deer pose) a restorative posture similar to pigeon pose but for most people a less intense pose as it doesn’t stretch quite as deep in the hips, yet offers a gentle twisting action.
Reasons why I love this pose.
1. It does help open tight hips especially after sitting for long periods of time.
2. With a slight gentle twist it’s great for spinal health and alleviating tension in the back muscles. Twist are also great for helping aid in digestion and detoxifying the body
3. Relieving stress, adding up all the benefits above this pose has a nice calming effect
The pose is easy to modify which makes it great for people with limited mobility.
Focusing on the breath taking awareness into the belly noticing the expansion on the inhale, softening on the exhale releasing tension.
Give this pose a try in your personal practice or come see me tomorrow (Friday) at Noon for Yin Surrender. 🙏🏼 PM for a guest pass! 🙌
