Death and art have been intertwined since the beginning of time.

We find our ancestors in tombs. We preserve love through ritual. Some of the most beautiful art in the world exists because we needed a way to remember.

That’s why I started making glass memorial pendants — not as something sad, but as something sacred. A piece of love you can carry every day.

Because love doesn’t end when the heart stops beating. 🕊️🫧

With the help of Glassadazical LLC I made some beutiful pendants from Serafina’s ashes. She will always be close to my heart. The round one reminds me of a tiny universe 💕

As the seasons shift and the days grow shorter, the world starts to quiet. Leaves fall, the light softens, and nature gently reminds us of the cycles of life, aging, and release.

This year, I made the tender decision to plan Serafina’s end-of-life journey. She’s still in good health, but at 28, she is gracefully walking through her golden years. 🩷🦄

And with that, I chose to do something I always encourage my clients to consider with their older animals: an end-of-life photoshoot. Not out of sadness, but out of love. Out of gratitude. Out of wanting to celebrate her while she’s still feeling good, still bright-eyed, still very much here.

Why wait to honor them? Throw them a little party. Surround them with the people and animals whose lives they’ve touched. Make memories now, while their presence is still warm against your heart.

This photoshoot made memories I will carry forever. Serafina, my sweet, magical mare, thank you for every moment. 💗✨

The holidays are here and with that brings lots of emotions and one of the hardest is grief. After a loss the holidays will never be the same and that’s perfectly normal and ok. This book is one of my stables on my bookshelf and I reference it often.

Pet loss is one of the hardest things we will experience in our life.

I lost my heart dog this time last year. She was with me a full 18 years. As a death doula I had planed her end of life. She passed in my lap in our home surrounded by all those that loved her. It was a beautiful ending for my most beloved friend.

Even knowing she had a wonderful long life and peaceful ending my heart hurt to the extreme. It felt like this pain was worse than even losing my parents. As an end of life doula, I thought the grief wouldn’t be as bad since I had prepared for this moment.

How humbling it was for me to realize that this is not how grief works. No matter how prepared we think we are grief will still hit like a tidal wave.

There is a saying that grief is just love that has no place to go. It’s a beautiful saying but through this experience I realized that love does have somewhere to go. It stays with us. It’s in the tears, the heart ache, and the memories. With time we learn to carry it with us throughout the rest of our lives.

There is never a day I don’t think of her and I know the love we shared will never die. I carry it with me everyday 💕

Whether you are about to experience loss, in the middle of deep grief, or 20 years after a major loss this is a great book to read. Don Miguel Ruiz is a master with words. This book is one that will sit on my bookshelf and I will continue to pick up throughout my life. -Elizabeth 🦋
