Exciting news from Joint & Vascular Institute! ๐
Yesterday, we officially launched our Regenerative Medicine Program and performed our first two platelet-based treatments.
Our first patient underwent Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy for lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow), a chronic tendon injury that can be difficult to heal. PRP uses a concentrated portion of the patientโs own platelets and growth factors to support tissue repair and is commonly used for conditions such as tennis elbow, golferโs elbow, plantar fasciitis, and Achilles tendinopathy.
Our second patient underwent Platelet-Poor Plasma (PPP) therapy for a shoulder labral tear. PPP contains beneficial plasma proteins with fewer inflammatory components and is increasingly being used for mild to moderate osteoarthritis, labral pathology, and certain meniscal injuries.
As interventional radiology specialists, image-guided procedures are what we do every day. Using ultrasound and fluoroscopic guidance, we can precisely target injured tissues, tendons, joints, and other structures while providing minimally invasive treatment options tailored to each patient.
Many of our patients have been asking about PRP and PPP since we opened our doors. After extensive research, training, and careful evaluation of available systems, we decided to invest in a high-quality platform that allows us to offer both platelet-rich and platelet-poor plasma therapies as part of our comprehensive musculoskeletal practice.
Weโre excited to continue growing our musculoskeletal program and offering our patients even more minimally invasive treatment options alongside musculoskeletal embolization, genicular artery embolization (G*E), and peripheral nerve stimulation.
