Its costs can be your own needs becoming quiet, your boundaries blurring, and your body tensing into readiness even when rest is what you truly need.

Notice the pattern, name the feeling, breathe into the space between impulse and response. Try this short shadow integration practice to loosen repeating relational habits:
1) Pause and name the pattern you notice in your relationships.
2) Track the bodily sensation that shows up: tightness, heat, hollow...and breathe into it for three slow counts.
3) Ask, “What part of me is trying to keep me safe?” and listen without judgment.
4) Offer that part compassion and a simple choice: “I can respond from fear, or I can choose curiosity.”
Repeat daily for a week. Shadow work untangles identity loops by making the automatic visible. When you see it, you can choose differently.
