Nebraska MEDS

Nebraska MEDS NebraskaMEDS Coalition is here to help communities dispose of leftover medications.

In response to ongoing concerns about pharmaceutical waste, the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department, the Nebraska Pharmacists Association, the Nebraska Regional Poison Center, the Groundwater Foundation, the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, and others created the Nebraska MEDS Coalition. Nebraskans can dispose of their lefto

ver medication at local pharmacies across the state. Never flush your leftover medication; take it back to your pharmacy for safe and legal disposal via incineration.

Dispose of expired or unused medication (especially opioid prescriptions) for FREE at any of our participating pharmacies. It's the best way to make sure they don't get misused.

Historically, more than 1 in 10 teens ages 12โ€“17 used an illicit drug in the past year โ€“ and half of all young people who misuse prescription opioids get them from friends or family. Help get those numbers to drop. Locking up medications and talking early about the risks of misuse makes a difference.

Keep meds safe. Start the conversation.
