HAND EXPRESSION

There are a lot of different things to learn and buy when it comes to a lactation journey, but I think Hand Expression tops my list as “most important.” It’s such an invaluable skill to learn.

Hand expression is also one of the only ways to physically prepare for breast/chestfeeding prenatally. Starting as early as 37 weeks gestation (with provider permission), you can start hand expressing to collect colostrum. Not everyone does it, and not everyone is successful at collecting any… but the act of getting familiar with your own anatomy and figuring out how to adjust your technique to work for you is incredibly worthwhile.

It's that time of year again! The week of August 1-7, is World Breastfeeding Week. This is a global effort to promote breast/chestfeeding and its many benefits.
