Grocery store debate 😋 How do you tackle it?
I usually hit up the grocery store, 1-2X a week, & then grab specifics as needed-or for certain meals at specialty stores that carry misc. items.
How often do you go? Do you cook daily, or meal prep on Sundays? Trying to get a feel for what works for the majority of super busy people!
For me, I like to meal prep on Sundays 🌞 & Wednesdays, 🥞 to keep things EXTRA fresh. I also get bored of eating the same thing every day.
A few things that work for me:
I’m a basic cook, w/ basic skills, so complicated recipes freak me out, & take me twice as long to complete. AIN’T nobody have time for that 🤣. I keep it siiiiiimple!
Pick a protein, (ex. Ground beef) & cook enough for 3-4 days, BUUUT...prepare the meat 2 dif ways, so you don’t get bored. Make burgers out of half, & make tacos w/ the others half. 🌮
Always have pre cut/washed veggies (buy whatever is on sale-already prepped for a MAJOR time saver!) on hand, to either steam, or toss in the oven on a pan, w/ some seasoning.
🙌 Def. Add seasoning & a lil oil/butter to jazz it up!
Find a few sauces or seasonings that can add a punch, to an otherwise boring dinner!
Invest in a yummy almond butter, to entice you or your fam. To eat more celery or apples. 🍏 A lil’ can go a long way, if you heat it up for 10-15 seconds, so it thins out, & you can dip it 🤪
Potatoes & sweet potatoes are a staple, at our house. Super simple to wrap in tinfoil, toss in the oven & batch bake. (Keep a bag in the freezer for when you’re in a bind.) A box of rice or quinoa is also great to store in the pantry.
Fruit. Eaaaasy-we always have bananas 🍌 on hand for Easy-on-the-go snack, & apples/grapes/oranges in the fridge. We mainly do frozen berries ‘cuz they are packed w/ nutrients, easy to toss/blend in a shake, & don’t have to throw away $5 worth of 1/2 eaten berries ‘cuz they went bad on the fridge.
Avocados: need I say more?! 🥑😜 They go great on a burger, w/ meat, or solo! They keep us feeling full....so we don’t binge on junk food!
I prefer to cook w/ olive, avocado or coconut oil for everything! Lol 😆 A lot of cheaper oils can wreak havoc on our health & digestive system....don’t cut this corner.
Have a few bubbly drinks on hand, for when ur craving something sweet or carbonated, so you get your fix, but in a healthy way! My Fav.s are mineral water, or Healthade kombucha. 💕
