Recently our team got together for a “no work” day. In the hustle and bustle of working for a non-profit, especially a non-profit, it is sometimes easy to forget to celebrate each other. It’s not like working for a for-profit business where there are budgets for team events, incentives for top sales trips, etc. We are working with donor dollars and we take that very seriously.
Having said that, we realize that combined with lower salaries, no benefits package, longer hours, loads of travel, and work-weekends, we do not want to just keep on keeping on without some sort of recognition for hard work that is emotionally exhausting at times.
So, we got a little stipend from a donor AND we got our community to join the mission!!
Our community made a mid-summer, 9 hour, low-budget “retreat” happen out of thin air! And it was perfect! 👏 🙏
