Ever walk into a conversation with your adult child already trying to manage how they’ll react?

They feel it. And up go the walls.

Try flipping the order. Calm yourself first. Let go of steering. Then ask one simple question: “How did that feel for you?”

Save this for your next conversation. 💛

What if the problem isn’t the problem?

What if it’s the replaying of it?

When we replay the same painful story, our nervous system stays on alert.

A tight chest.

A clenched jaw.

That restless, can’t-settle feeling.

Your body doesn’t know the difference between something happening and you thinking about it happening.

That’s why positive thinking alone often falls short.

A brain on high alert can’t reach for curiosity.

Regulation comes first.

Then you have room to choose.

Have you ever had to tear something out before you could build something new? This fall, Phil and I took on a big backyard project. Before we could add anything new, we had to clear everything out, even the trampoline our kids and grandkids loved for decades. Right now, it mostly looks like dirt. Bu...

Have you ever shared a little too much in a group setting, then replayed it the whole drive home? 🙈

My guest this week, Kamden Hainsworth, calls that a vulnerability hangover. And she has some beautiful ways to move through it.

Kamden is an ADHD coach and mom of four who was diagnosed at 36. When she learned that ADHD affects emotions, she cried. She had spent years thinking her big feelings meant she wasn’t Christlike enough.

In this episode we talk about five things women with ADHD often struggle with at church:
✨ The vulnerability hangover
✨ Time blindness
✨ Perfectionism and paralysis
✨ Big emotions
✨ Hyperfocus

Here’s what I loved most. These aren’t just ADHD struggles. They’re human ones.

If you don’t have ADHD, someone you love probably does. This one is for all of us. 💛
