The S.T.A.R.S met today to discuss Judge Stone by Viola Davis and James Patterson. It was a good book that led to a great discussion about some real issues that unfortunately still affect us in 2026. We had a discussion about right versus wrong and “what would you do?” which led to a few debates. But we all agreed we loved the no-nonsense Judge Mary Stone and were surprised, yet pleased, with a decision she used her power to make. And we all agreed that in our minds, Judge Stone is Annalese Keating (Viola Davis) from How to Get Away With Murder.

We’ll be waiting on the movie! 🎥

Hey y’all!

After taking July off and celebrating our 18 year anniversary in August, the S.T.A.R.S are officially back!

We read The Blackbirds by Eric Jerome Dickey. WHAT. A. RIDE! Those Blackbirds came full of all the drama and some crazy storylines. Some moments made us clutch our pearls, others made us give a major side eye (2 of THEM, really?) and other moments just made us vigorously shake our heads.

It was a long book with too many unnecessary details and moments, but once you got past all the fluff, most of the S.T.A.R.S agreed it was a good book about friendships. Others have doubts about that. Overall, it was an ok read but interesting, nonetheless.

And like only the S.T.A.R.S can do, we sang an embattled Happy Birthday to Jeannine, who celebrates her 70th birthday next week. We hope she has a fabulous 70th birthday!

Do you know what today is?!? It’s the day the S.T.A.R.S turn 18!! That’s right! Your favorite book club can vote and buy ci******es. 😜

And to celebrate the occasion we had an amazing time at Game Show Battle Rooms. It was Team BBQ versus the Senagers.

In the end, the BBQ’s came out victorious!!

It was so much fun and Charlie and Angelo were AMAZING hosts!

Cheers to 18 years to all current, past and future S.T.A.R.S. Looking forward to reading many more books and spending more anniversaries together.

The S.T.A.R.S met today to discuss My Husband’s Wife by Alice Feeney. And, baby, what a ride! No one was prepared for all the twist and turns and especially that last chapter! Not a single character could be trusted and some S.T.A.R.S are still a little confused about what happened. Alice, how you come up with these stories? Should we be worried?

We also sang Happy Birthday to Lillian, who celebrates her birthday all month. LOL. Happy Birthday, Lillian. Enjoy your birth month!

The S.T.A.R.S met today to discuss Razorblade Tears by S.A. Cosby.
Those of us who read the book (Hey Tina) overall enjoyed. There is a lot of violence, but also some humor and redeeming qualities for the main characters. It begs the question “How far would you go to avenge the murder of someone you loved?” For Ike and Buddy Lee, the answer was as far as they needed to go…and then 3 more steps!
