The Mediterranean Diet has been widely acknowledged as the healthiest diet, because it is largely plant-based and includes loads of healthy fats. It can reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease, increase your lifespan, and promote healthy aging.

Here are some tips on adding some of the Mediterranean diet in yo life!
• Cut back on red meat 🥩 🙅🏽‍♀️ (only for special occasions)
• Swap out refined sugars for natural ones (dates/honey/maple syrup are my go-to’s)
• Add more fruits and veggies to your meals
• Eat dairy and eggs in moderation
• Consume wild-caught and sustainable fish a few times a week
• Clean and healthy fats in the form of oils and nuts (olive and avocado oils, almonds and walnuts, etc)
• Boost flavor with herbs and spices over salt
• Exercise regularly

This diet is super satiating (because clean protein, healthy fats and whole grains), and boosts your energy like you wouldn’t believe! Give it a try!!!

Christmas Brunch has become a sort of holiday tradition over the years, and this is the last holiday before this lil’ family we’ve created meets our long-awaited plus one 👼🏽👩🏾‍🍼.

After the presents are opened, a cocktail (or virgin cocoa this year), and gratitude is given to the most high for all of our blessings, and an appropriate Christmas movie is on, I get to work in the kitchen!

This year’s brunch - homemade Hot Cacao with whipped cream, a Veggie/Herb Omelet with organic tomatoes, onion, mozzarella, garlic, as well as zucchini and herbs from the garden, and for the main feature, buttery and slightly sweet Honey Lemon Waffles, made with lemon zest and topped with house-made Blueberry Syrup & whip.

May your holiday be spent with loved ones, with reflection on the traditions you want to establish and the reason for the season - to give and love on your tribe!

I’m Ash, a Bay-native rooted in LA, committed to promoting health and wellness through plant-based offerings for skin + soul-care.

I am all the about plants, and am a resource for veg lifestyle coaching, gardening, recipes, and detoxifying your life. I also offer a line of super natural skin/household products ranging from my signature body butters to sage wands and candles.

I’m not gonna lie, I miss dessert sometimes. Been doin’ this sugafree lifestyle for a month and these No-Bake Energy Bites have been everything! Naturally sweet, nutrient dense, energy givin’!

With just four all-natural, vegan ingredients, these bites always satisfy the occasional sugar craving.

Here’s the recipe:

•1/2 cup raw pecans
•1/2 cup shredded unsweetened coconut
•4 medijool dates
•1/8 cup almond butter
(optional - 1/2 tsp cacao powder or 2 tbsp cacao nibs)

Instructions - Mix all ingredients in a food processor. It should be grainy, but not chunky. Spoon into your palm and roll into balls. No baking or refrigeration needed. Store at room-temp in an airtight container for up to 5 days. *This recipe makes 8-12 bites.

As if life isn’t hard enough, I decided to give up sugar recently. I’m two weeks in and have successfully maintained my resolve in the most tempting of circumstances, the LA County Fair, boba spots & I even passed on my chef frens amazing sweet potato waffles (s/o ). I’ve also traded agave, maple syrup, & other high calorie sweeteners for monk fruit or seasonal fruits when rare cravings hit.

Thinking of making a switch? Kicking sugar is amazing for increased energy, reducing inflammation, aiding in liver health & reducing the risk of cancer.

As I explore new suga free recipes, I’ll share some favs! In the meanwhile, I’m takin this one day at a time, & enjoying the challenge.
