Ever had a day where you just felt totally out of your body? Youâre floating above it in your head, all the thoughts, worries, plans and dreams are reeling through your mind and you just forget that you even have a body. For most of us this is just a normal day in the life, right? The body is just the vehicle and the mind is the driver.
What if for a moment, instead of dismissing the body as just the vehicle, your means of operating in the world, what if you gave it a moment to speak to you? What might it have to say? Is it possible the body could actually have an âopinionâ on how the mind is driving the vehicle? ;)
Of course the body has something to say. The real question is, will you allow the mind to step aside for a moment and listen to it? As youâre reading this, gently ask the mind to pause, just for a moment--not to worry, it will have itâs turn again shortly. And then, without a question, without even an intention other than to listen to the body and act as it feels is needed, begin to breathe consciously. Get quiet and curious and see what happens.
Maybe your head needs a scratch, or you need to give yourself a bear hug, or to pull your knees into your chest. Flow with it. Let yourself move without judgement or self-consciousness. Allow curiosity to move you. And as you go through these bodily movements, notice what comes up for you emotionally and mentally. Again, without judgement, without attachment, only noticing.
Are you thinking about the past, the future, a big dream you are calling in, feeling grateful, or emotional, inspired? As each new notion or emotion arises, allow curiosity to explore it without hanging on to it, and then let it go. If itâs asking for more space to be expanded upon or journaled about or processed, then do that. And if not, then move onto the next movement. Youâll know when youâre finished.
