Hey community! 🤗⠀


Can y’all believe we’re halfway through December already? This year it seems like certain months seemed like 3 months in 1 while others only seemed like they lasted a week or so, right? 😟⠀

As we are coming closer to the end of the year, and Christmas time (which usually seems to slip right into New Years) it’s a good time to stop and reflect before we shift gears into goal setting for next year.⠀

[ A few things we can reflect on:⠀
• What challenges have I faced this year? ⠀
• What have I learned because of it/them? ⠀
• What has changed from where I am now compared to where I was this time last year? ⠀
• How do I feel about that? ⠀
• What was the highlight of this year? ⠀
• How about the biggest disappointment? ⠀
• What’s something I wanted to accomplish this year and wasn’t able to? ⠀
• What DID I accomplish? ]⠀

This year has been tough, and if any of us came into 2020 with any expectations that weren’t met, that can be disappointing itself, so we’re not doing this to beat ourselves up, but instead to be able to acknowledge these things/feelings and reflect so that we can decide what to do next based on everything we’ve learned rather than just reacting to whatever comes next⠀

Once we’ve had time sit sit and acknowledge and process as much as we’re able to, then we can start thinking about what we’re going to do next or differently ⠀

Remember when I told you all that I was working on something I couldn’t wait to show you ? Well I had to wait a little bit and figure some things out, but I’m finally ready to share it 😆

I’d been looking for somewhere that I could put some of my art on merchandise & after multiple trials and errors with different print providers , I finally found the ones with the best quality merchandise and prints for my work ! 🤗

I still have a few things to do before the website is up and running , but here’s a peek at the first product available for purchase 😁

This post came from a Bible study that I was working on recently about spiritual self care in times of trauma, stress and loss by Welby O’Brien, and it really stood out to me because I feel like we can forget or sometimes not realize how much the stuff that we look at regularly can effect us mentally, emotionally, spiritually and sometimes even physically! 😟⠀

I don’t know about you guys, but for me there’ve been a lot of unexpected deaths really close this year. Like way more than usual, whether COVID related or not, and some days are kinda hard, okay some days are REALLY hard, and I just feel really sad sometimes when I look at certain things going on around me and in the world⠀

It can be easy to slip into a depression when just dealing with regular life, let alone while in the middle of a pandemic, so I just wanted to share some things that help me deal with loss and grief. The easiest thing to do is ignore and numb whatever we’re feeling, but that just prolongs our healing 🦋⠀

For me, it helps to:⠀

1. Acknowledge my feelings rather than trying to distract myself or keep myself too busy to process things⠀

2. If dealing with the loss of a loved one - Honor the loss of my loved one and do something in their memory and talk/pray to them regularly⠀

If dealing with the loss of a relationship/opportunity - acknowledge what I hope would come from it or any expectations that I may have had. Remind myself that it’s not the end of the world and acknowledge that I did my best in that moment and what can be done next time⠀

3. Giving myself grace - staying mindful of the fact that I may be more anxious/irritable during this time and that’s it’s okay to take a break; working on small routines and practicing extra self care⠀

4. Doing what makes me happy - it can be hard to do this sometimes but little by little I work things that make me happy into my day whether it’s listening to uplifting music, singing, painting, being in nature or spending time with loved ones⠀
