“Your child’s rights are still on paper. Whether they still exist in practice depends on what happens next, because laws without enforcement are just words.”

Disability community and allies, it’s a critical time to speak up to protect Olmstead. This landmark 1999 U.S. Supreme Court civil rights ruling established that the unjustified segregation of people with disabilities is a form of discrimination under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Remind loved ones about dietary restrictions, sensory sensitivities, and preferred greetings.

Have a standing packing list for every time you travel, so you never forget medical supplies and equipment with chargers.

Let your kid(s) pack their own backpacks with a few of their favorite things, and carry your own backpack with snacks, drinks, & surprises.

Pack items that will help your kids fall asleep.

Bring earplugs and/or noise-cancelling headphones for big get-togethers.

Kids lose an average of 2 to 3 months of math and reading skills over the summer. It’s a huge headache because they end up spending all of September just trying to catch up to where they already were in May -- but obviously, nobody wants to fight their kid to do worksheets in July. The trick is just incorporating quick brain exercises into things they’re already doing.

Swipe through for easy ways to keep their skills sharp without ruining the summer vibes. 👉

Page 2: Peach background behind list of “How to keep kids learning all summer,” broken into three sections: Math, Reading, and Science. Tips are: Math

Cook or bake together (measuring is math)

Count change at the store

Play board games like Monopoly or Uno

Ask them to split the bill or calculate a tip at a restaurant

Use a math app for 10 minutes a day

Reading

Let them pick anything they want to read — comics count

Listen to audiobooks on car rides

Read together before bed (even just 10 minutes)

Visit the library and let them choose freely

Turn on captions on their favorite show

Science

Grow things like a plant and herbs

Watch bugs or birds outside and talk about what you see

Mix baking soda and vinegar (and your kids will see that fun bubbling reaction)

Check the weather together every morning

Watch a nature documentary and ask questions

If your child receives services under an IEP, you need to see this.

A massive federal shift is being planned for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This isn't just a bureaucratic move — it could directly impact the oversight, funding, and legal protections your child relies on every single day.

Swipe for details, and please share this post to help keep our community informed and ready to act. 👇

Page 2: Green background behind centered black text, “Why does this matter? IDEA is the federal law that guarantees your child's right to a free and appropriate public education. Moving the office that enforces it could mean less federal oversight and less accountability for states. Advocates fear fewer students will receive the services they are legally entitled to, and that this is a step toward dismantling federal special education protections entirely.
