Joe's Corner

Joe's Corner We focus on assisting people, groups, and companies with the writing, publishing, and marketing of their books.

These businesses typically provide services ranging from ghostwriting through editing, proofreading, formatting, cover design, publication, and marketing. Our primary focus areas are personal development, living intentionally, personal finance, and health and wellness. Creating a book can take a long time and be challenging, especially if you need to be an experienced writer. Consequently, book wr

iting firms offer qualified services to aid consumers in producing high-quality publications that suit their demands and objectives. While some book writing services work with individual authors, others might collaborate with corporations and organizations to produce books that market their namesake, goods, or services. Depending on the size of the project and the quality of services needed, these costs can change.

Ever wonder how cartographers prove a map is distorting reality? They use Tissot's Indicatrix β€” a grid of identical circles drawn across the globe. Once projected onto a flat map, those circles swell into ellipses of different sizes, showing exactly where and how much area gets stretched. No flat map can preserve everything at once.

Free satellite data. πŸ›°οΈ No login, no invoice, no waiting on a grant approval. I put together the 10 sources I actually use on real projects β€” Sentinel-2, Landsat, NISAR, Copernicus DEM, OpenStreetMap, WorldPop, CHIRPS, MODIS, ESA WorldCover, SoilGrids. Full list + how to use each one, on the Routero channel: https://youtube.com/. Follow for more of what's actually free.

NASA just gave its next Landsat satellite a redesign β€” from 3 spacecraft down to 1. πŸ›°οΈ Landsat has been photographing Earth's land every ~16 days since 1972 (53 years and counting), the longest satellite record we have. Follow for more of what's changing behind the maps you use every day.

Forest loss in the Congo Basin happens in patches that are easy to miss between annual reports, and a single satellite date is too cloud-prone over equatorial forest to be reliable.

02-earth-engine-timeseries builds a cloud-free baseline composite and a recent one, differences them to map loss, and totals the hectares. The twist on the geemap original: it pulls multi-year Sentinel-2 from an open STAC catalogue with no authentication, and processes it with a pure-numpy core (median composites, NDVI change, loss/gain classification).

The demo recovers a planted 9 ha clearing perfectly, and results are validated against Global Forest Watch / Hansen tree-cover loss. Earth Engine stays an optional path once you're ready to authenticate.

Every world map you've ever seen is lying to you. πŸ—ΊοΈ On the Mercator map, Greenland looks the size of Africa. In reality, Africa is 14 TIMES larger β€” you could fit the US, China, India and most of Europe inside it. Flattening a sphere always distorts. The question is who gets shrunk.

10 sources of free satellite & geospatial data β€” save this. πŸ›°οΈ

The barrier isn't data anymore.

How satellites see plant health, in one line of math. πŸ›°οΈ

NDVI = (NIR βˆ’ Red) / (NIR + Red)

I built a RAG question-answering app over my own portfolio's documentation. Ask it about any project and it answers from the docs β€” free extractive mode by default, with an optional LLM path.

A small, honest take on retrieval-augmented QA: no vector-store theatre, just a working answer engine over real documents.

A portfolio claim I see often: "achieved 94% accuracy." A question I rarely see answered: can I reproduce it?

Across my 24 projects I committed to one standard β€” every numerical core has a known-answer test that runs in CI, and a one-command demo regenerates the numbers in the README from a seeded input. The heavy parts (GPU, Kafka, Terraform) are documented to run on your machine, not faked in a screenshot.

Reproducibility isn't a feature you add at the end. It's the thing that makes the rest believable.
