Your partner forgets to text back. Do you think, “They must be busy,” or “They never think about me”?

The same event can feel very different depending on the overall lens through which we see our partner.

Relationship researcher John Gottman uses the concept of positive sentiment override to describe how a generally positive view of a partner can influence the interpretation of everyday interactions.

That doesn't mean overlooking real problems. It means noticing when frustration has become the lens through which everything your partner does gets interpreted.

🌱 Sometimes changing a relationship begins with becoming aware of the story surrounding the interaction.

Jealousy isn't limited to romantic relationships.

You might feel it when a close friend becomes closer to someone else, enters a new relationship, or suddenly has less time for your friendship.

Rather than immediately judging the feeling, get curious about it. Is it pointing to fear of being replaced? Feeling excluded? Missing the closeness you once had?

💚 An uncomfortable emotion can still give us useful information.

Have you ever experienced friendship jealousy? You may be surprised by how common it is.

Have you ever had one family member complain to you about another and suddenly found yourself caught in the middle?

This can be a form of triangulation, where tension between two people gets redirected through a third person. You may become the messenger, mediator, or person expected to choose a side.

Over time, being placed in this role can become emotionally exhausting and make direct communication within the family even harder.

🌿 You can care about the people you love without becoming responsible for resolving their conflicts.

If being “in the middle” feels familiar in your family, therapy can help you understand the pattern and explore healthier ways of relating.

Dolly Parton was so important to so many people.

A prolific songwriter, philanthropist, and mental health advocate, she gave so much of herself to the world.

We’re glad to live in the world she helped shape: one of warmth, resilience, and acceptance. Her legacy lives on in the grace and understanding we show each other every day. 🦋💙

Comparisons between siblings or family members may seem harmless, but they can leave lasting emotional effects.

Whether it's comparing grades, careers, personalities, or achievements, these messages can influence confidence, self-worth, and family relationships well into adulthood.

Healthy families celebrate each person's unique strengths instead of measuring them against one another.

✨ Encouragement helps people grow. Comparison often creates distance.

💬 Were you ever compared to someone growing up?

When conflict begins, it's easy to assume we already know what our partner meant.

Instead of asking, we interpret.

Curiosity slows conflict down. Questions like 'Can you help me understand?' often create more connection than defending your position.

✨ Being curious isn't agreeing, it's choosing understanding first.

💬 What's one question that has helped you during a difficult conversation?

Over time, it's easy to assume our partner already knows they're appreciated. But feeling valued isn't something people outgrow, it remains an important part of emotional connection.

Small moments of appreciation help partners feel noticed, respected, and loved. They remind each other that everyday efforts don't go unseen.

✨ Gratitude doesn't have to be grand to make a meaningful difference.

💬 What's one small thing your partner does that you're grateful for?

Moving, changing careers, becoming parents, retirement, or even exciting opportunities can create unexpected stress within a relationship.

Transitions require couples to adjust together, not just individually.

Recognizing this helps create compassion instead of confusion.

✨ Growing together often means adapting together.

💬 Which life transition taught you the most about your relationship?

Relationships naturally move through different seasons.

Some seasons feel light and joyful. Others require patience, flexibility, and intentional effort.

Expecting every stage to feel the same can create unnecessary worry.

✨ Healthy relationships don't avoid change, they learn how to move through it together.

💬 Which season are your relationships in right now?

One of the biggest relationship misunderstandings is believing that validation requires agreement.

Your partner can understand your feelings without sharing your opinion. In fact, some of the strongest relationships are built on the ability to respect different perspectives while remaining emotionally connected.

✨ Feeling understood often matters more than being right.

💬 Have you ever felt heard even when someone disagreed with you?
