These 5 year anniversary trips are never meant to be about me, but rather the purpose is to give HOPE to others and share their stories of strength and courage!

My last post from The Hope Ride 2!
So very bittersweet..
THANK YOU to EVERYONE that made this journey possible and God my father for protecting me and watching over me the entire ride!

I am thrilled to announce that with your support, we were able to raise $4,500 in net-proceeds to donate to the incredible mission of the Livestrong Foundation which serves millions of people affected by Cancer!

I first got my LIVESTRONG bracelet shortly after I had brain surgery in 2008. I knew the recovery was going to be quite the challenge, but this bracelet was a visual reminder to do as it said, LIVE STRONG!

I am forever grateful for the unwavering support of my sponsors and the incredible generosity of countless individual donors. Once again, THANK YOU!

Here's to life, HOPE, and the battle against Cancer!

My welcome home party June 3rd!
Thank you to my lil Lucia for organizing this! It was a great night of celebration, singing, and dancing! (Also this was the first day for about a week that I lost my voice 😅) I love and appreciate everyone who made it and love and appreciate everyone who couldn’t!
Thank you for the hands and hearts that made this possible. 😊

My best man from my wedding! Beyond generous with his time and money! He is like a fearless brother to me and its always great when we can catch up. Not afraid to get his hands dirty, he is in it till the end with you. He is the master of using what you have around you to make it work! I love this guy! Thank you for being a part of this journey Abe!

Long time no see! I ended up getting really busy once I fully jumped back into life. Sorry about that! 😅 I know I need to wrap up this journey so I have a small few posts left to tie all the loose ends up! Enjoy!

My boy Ben Steinbacher! Always the life of the party and such a great time with him! He’s a man who invests in other people and their dreams. Amazing people person and man of his word. Thank you Ben for jumping in on this ride even after you got really sick and coughed for the first few days! Appreciate you bro!

(Part 3 of 3!)

Going back to day 14 and overnight to 15..

After trying to pedal 40 miles to Santa Cruz with a 17mph headwind and have sand blasted in my face I could only pedal 20 miles. I ended up at this fancy KOA campground where they even had a petting zoo! This is where I met the lovely family,Kevin and Amanda and their daughter. They came to go camping for the weekend to just get off the grid for a bit. Amanda is a writer and Kevin works at a college as a scientist. In my video I was looking for the words ‘Hadron Collider’. (Where they send atoms and light speeds that smash into each other to figure out if there is matter smaller than atoms.) Anyway, he does experiments on that. Oddly enough he has always wanted to own his own bicycle shop but figured he never would since he makes a lot more money doing what he does now. Since mine was still acting up he offered to take a look the following morning! He fixed it! (When I am cranking hard up a hill and your bike randomly shifts gears, its not fun!) It seems after people fix my bike it slowly goes back to what it was doing before..
Anyway, they were an amazing family that cooked breakfast for me! They also provided great conversation the night I arrived and the morning we both left the campground! One day Kevin you’ll do a long distance ride that you have always wanted to! I did tell him only another Kevin could fix my bike lol.

12th day of pedaling..crossing the Golden Gate Bridge!

A little behind the scenes info! I saw these two ladies taking pictures of each other / selfies so I offered to take their picture together in return if they could take mine. Funny thing! They were both Hoosiers! (People from Indiana) Dawn had moved to California a while ago and her sister Mareetsa was here visiting. Interesting tid bit is that Dawn was/is an MRI Technician and wanted to know how I beat Brain Cancer! In short my faith, the very best Neurosurgeon in the US, the best kind of radiation for my brain, and the only Neuro-Chemotherapy Dr in Indiana!

When you are dealing with your brain, THE most important part of your body, don’t fall for the pressure of getting it done ASAP! Do your research! Find the BEST of the BEST and head that direction! I understand in the moment you and everyone around you will be scared and will listen to anyone in a lab coat. Mine was a golf ball size and a month later grew to roughly a tennis ball. I get it. Some Dr’s will even lie to you.. be careful..do your research!

Big tip!
Tumors LOVE sugar! Stay away from it as much as you can!

Part 2. Video!

Day 11 of pedaling along..
Dan! The most efficient man! Riding into the Bodega Dunes to the Hiker/Biker spot there was a fella already there who had setup camp. Learning about Dan, he is a programmer and had been riding this week as a training for a 700 mile ride the following week. He was putting in like 60-80 mile days! Why is he the most efficient man you ask? He had measured every single thing he had with him down to the grams! He had 10 grams of white powdered toothpaste which looked like a certain drug. So of course I jokingly asked him…how much you want for 3 grams of the white powder? Lol. He had an attachment on his bike that powered all his devices as the wheel turned. He had a TINY tent that he barely squeezed into and multi-used his small clothing bag as a pillow. It literally took him 5 minutes to setup his tent and start eating. He had so many facts about things and the ‘best way to do them’. My kinda man!
Since his trip was about over, he possibly going to stay in a hotel for the night and pamper himself and do some ‘sink laundry’. Haha you can guess what that means. Awesome guy and super cool! I didnt expect to see him again so we said our goodbyes in the morning and got a photo together. (Pics of my dinner + breakfast are included)
I think I rode somewhere between 30-50 miles that day to another campground. After 20 minutes low and behold Dan rolls up! Ayyyyyyy!! He said he realized he was at a very lovely destination place and he was going to spend it inside a hotel? Nah. He looked around the town and decided to head onward. He must have booked it because I got there and it was like 20 minutes later he showed up! Its also much better having companionship on a lonely bike ride than not and we made good friends!
I wish him well on his bike ride! We will definitely keep in touch!
