Guess which one of our team members has written with the Smashing Pumpkins and toured with the likes of Nirvana and Soundgarden?

It also just happens to be his birthday…

Today we’re celebrating John Lombardo

With 30 years in the music industry, John has fronted bands across three continents, earned a songwriting contract with Warner/Chappell Music, and co-written with some of the greats.

As a SongDivision Client Executive for the Americas, John brings that same energy to work with Fortune 500 brands like Dish Network and Microsoft, helping them engage audiences, communicate their message, and build stronger company culture.

John is one of the brightest, warmest people we know and lights up any room he walks into.

Plus he is hilarious, an amazing surfer, a great storyteller and very cheeky (always with a twinkle in the eye)!!! ā¤ļø

We are so grateful to have him on the team and to celebrate another year around the sun!

šŸŽ‚ HAPPY BIRTHDAY, John Lombardo !

Is Password123 the root of all your work problems?

šŸ¤”šŸ¤”šŸ¤”

Let’s look at it this way...

šŸ›œ Your culture is the Wi-Fi. Your values are the password.

Everyone knows they should have a strong password.

(Make it long, 16 characters, use symbols and numbers, and use a different password for each account! We’ve all heard it countless times.)

Yet somehow, half of us are still using the same one we’ve had for 10 years on every single account.

It’s familiar and easy. It gets the job done... until it doesn’t.

Then one day, something breaks. An account gets compromised. You spend hours trying to figure out how to get back into YOUR OWN account.

Culture works the same way.

Every leader knows company values matter.

But when was the last time you really looked at yours?

Do your people know your values? Can they remember them? Do they understand what they actually look like in practice? Are they embedded deeply enough that they guide your team’s daily decisions and behaviors?

Or are they just the corporate equivalent of ā€œPassword123ā€?

A new term came up in our team convos this week…

And no, it’s not a new Gen Z term.

(Although don’t be surprised if you find yourself saying ā€œcringeā€ a lot more because that Gen Z term is starting to make its way into everyone’s lingo, from the boomers to the millennials.)

No, the term that came up was cultural debt.

If this term is new to you too, it’s basically the negative consequences an organization accumulates by neglecting its culture, similar to how financial debt accrues interest.

We’re lucky to work with teams who spend a lot of time making sure they don’t accumulate cultural debt.

But if your team has, now is the perfect time to clear that up and get the team back on track.

This is especially important with the rapid development of AI.

ā€œ42% of workers in Deloitte’s 2026 Global Human Capital Trends survey report that their organization rarely evaluates the impact of AI on people—an indicator of mounting cultural debt.ā€

We challenge you to take some time this week and evaluate your culture, your approach to AI integration, and how much, if any, cultural debt you’ve accumulated.

šŸ“„ When Deloitte surveyed over 100 C-suite leaders, 59% of organizations said they are taking a technology-first approach to AI.

But those organizations are 1.6x more likely to fall short of their expected AI returns than organizations taking a human-centric approach.

Let that sink in...

AI can do a lot.

But what has stood the test of time and technological advancements is human connection.

How leaders INVEST in their PEOPLE.

AI can automate tasks, but it can’t replace trust, alignment, or connection.

The companies getting the most from AI aren’t tech-focused; they’re team-focused.

Unpopular opinion, but we think you should be friends with your coworkers.

A few weeks ago, our CEO Andy shared some photos from a surf trip to Nicaragua with one of our Client Executives, John Lombardo . šŸ„

One of the beliefs that guides our team is that you can’t neatly separate ā€œworkā€ and ā€œlife.ā€ Your personal life affects your work and vice versa because we are human.

That’s why we’ve always invested in relationships, not just roles.

The trust our team builds by doing things like taking surfing trips together, sharing meals, traveling, and experiencing life doesn’t disappear when we walk into a client event.
Ā
It shows up in how we communicate, collaborate, solve problems, and support each other.

We know this approach isn’t for every company. But for us, it’s a huge part of what makes SongDivision what it is.

And one thing we’ve noticed time and time again, working with high-performing teams (Fortune 500, small startups, and everything in between), is that success isn’t just built through strategy.

It’s built through relationships. šŸ’™

If you’ve ever worked with Leigh Houison you’ll know he’s the kind of person who brings incredible energy, creativity, and calm confidence into every room he’s in.

From performing to helping clients create unforgettable experiences, Leigh has a way of making people feel comfortable, inspired, and ready to jump in.

And if you didn’t know... he’s shared the stage with legends like Elton John and performed at iconic venues like the Grand Ole Opry (humble brag).

We’re lucky to have his talent, perspective, and sense of humor on the team, and we’re even luckier to call him a friend.

Hope you have an amazing year, Leigh. Happy Birthday! šŸŽ‚šŸŽø
