Pre-Pharmacy Society at UCLA

The Pre-Pharmacy Society at UCLA serves undergraduate students pursuing pharmacy-related careers. Meetings occur Thursdays from 6-7pm via Zoom.

Through various speakers (such as admissions representatives, pharmacy students, and pharmacists), field trips, peer mentorship, and informational meetings, we strive to keep our members informed on issues that concern them as future healthcare practitioners. Furthermore, we make every effort to develop UCLA’s students into future leaders in the field of pharmacy. PPS would now like to introduce our incredible Internal Vice President, Anna Du! Anna is a junior from Davis, CA, majoring in biochemistry. She is a Veterans Home Pharmacy co-coordinator and volunteer, a research volunteer at the Flint Lab (Semel Institute), and a part of the KOREOS dance team, Chinese Cultural Dance Club at UCLA, and the Association of Chinese Americans (ACA). She aims to pursue a career as either a clinical or surgical pharmacist, and has academic interests in drug development, oncology, and pharmacodynamics. Her hobbies are playing badminton, trying yummy food spots, watching dramas, learning choreography with friends, and studying at cafes! Anna’s favorite study drink is an earl grey matcha latte!

Hi everyone!! We hope you all have enjoyed your summers and are eager to start school again! Whether you are new to UCLA or are a returning student, PPS would like to extend a warm welcome and invite you to join us for the opportunity to navigate your pharmacy journey together. First off, to get to know our club a little bit more, we would like to start by introducing the 2026-2027 PPS Board!

First and foremost, we would like to introduce our phenomenal President, Raven Ma! Raven is a senior from El Monte, CA, majoring in molecular, cell, and developmental biology (MCDB) with a minor biomedical research. She is a McNair Research Scholar, an undergraduate researcher at the Ting-Ting Wu Lab, Advisor of the UCLA International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE), a Project OnRamp Student (formerly an intern at Xencor, Inc.), and a UCLA Health Companion Care volunteer. Raven aims to become a Professor of Pharmacology. Her hobbies include baking, traveling, journaling, reading, and trying new cafes! Academically, she is interested in teaching, drug development, vaccines, and immunology. Raven’s favorite study drink is a tiramisu latte with cold foam!

Happy Week 10, everyone! Join us for our final meeting of the academic year this Thursday, June 4th from 6-8 PM at the grass by Janss Steps for our annual end-of-year banquet! Come celebrate a year of accomplishments with great food, games, raffle prizes, and more. We will also be sending off our graduating seniors, announcing senior scholarship recipients, and awarding mentorship pair winners. Thank you to for coming out to UCLA and hosting an opioid awareness and naloxone training workshop for PPS!

Our members were able to gain valuable insight into opioid overdose trends, prevention, and how to properly administer naloxone. Thank you to the KGI team for sharing their expertise with us, and to PPS members who came out for a wonderful evening! 💊💫

PPS is hosting a 85°C Bakery Cafe Fundraiser tomorrow, May 27th from 11AM - 4PM in the Court of Sciences!

If you would like to fulfill your volunteer point for the quarter to gain active membership status, sign up for a shift on the sheet in our LinkTree. Duties include handing over correct pastry orders and collecting cash/Venmo payments. Additionally, the first and last shifts will help with set-up and clean-up. If we happen to sell out before the start of a shift, those signed up will still get their volunteer point. As a reminder, ONE volunteer point is needed per quarter to maintain active membership, and a one-hour shift counts as one volunteer point. Come out and support! 🍞

Happy Week 9, everyone! This week, we are excited to welcome guest speakers from the Keck Graduate Institute for an Opioid Awareness and Naloxone Training Workshop! Learn how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose, and how Naloxone, a lifesaving medication, can reverse one in an emergency. This workshop will take place this Thursday, May 28th from 6-7 PM in Royce Hall Room 154. KGI will also be providing pizza! If you are interested in attending, please fill out the RSVP form which can be found in our LinkTree, or by scanning the QR code on the second slide.

Happy Week 8, everyone! This week we will be hosting a senior student panel, happening this Thursday, May 21st from 6-7 PM in Royce Hall Room 154! Join us to hear from current PPS seniors as they answer questions and reflect on their undergraduate experience and future endeavors. While we do have a series of moderated questions to ask members of the panel, there will be an opportunity for an audience Q&A if you have any lingering questions. We hope to see you all there!

Happy Week 7, everyone! Join us for this week’s GM featuring a panel of PharmD students from the UC Irvine School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences! They will be discussing their program and firsthand experiences at UCI’s pharmacy school, and will be available to answer questions about UCI, student life, the admissions process, or anything else you might be curious about! There will also be an open Q&A session, so we encourage you to come prepared with any questions you may have for them. We will be meeting this Thursday, May 14 from 6-7 PM in Royce Hall Room 154.
