Strides in Recovery is a Los Angeles based nonprofit which brings the healing power of goal-oriented group running/walking to clients in addiction treatment programs. As a volunteer coach of a residential addicition recovery program's LA Marathon team, I have the honor and privilege of helping people experience the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritutal rewards of training for a major enduran

ce event, while turning their lives around. Inspired by the many success stories, I started Strides in Recovery to help others in the recovery community harness the power of running for maintaining their sobriety.

Today weโ€™re sharing a few small but meaningful moments from our teammates over at Fred Brown. Our weekly sessions with the team mean everything to us. Listening to our teammates share their thoughts and feelings are nothing short of inspiring. โ™ฅ๏ธ ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ

Recovery takes immense grit and hard work. Being able to hold space for these moments means a lot. These moments are a reminder of why we keep showing up and continuing the work we do here Supporting sobriety one stride at a time. โœจ

Looking back at all the miles we clocked in 2025, itโ€™s about so much more than just the numbersโ€”itโ€™s about the strides made in recovery, the consistency, and showing up. ๐Ÿ’ซ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ

We love sharing these stats because they serve as a beautiful reminder of the hard work we put in as a community. Every step counts, and every mile matters. All 31,668. โ™ฅ๏ธ

Behind every great community are powerful individuals like Mike and his family โœจ

Mike is a proud Chabad Alumni and discovered Strides in Recovery while in treatment. That introduction didnโ€™t just support his recovery โ€”it sparked reconnection with his son Gram. โ™ฅ๏ธ

Mike has always been dedicated to giving back what was so freely given to him and is now a full family connection. Today, Mike, Gram, and Stephanie (Mikeโ€™s wife) are the ultimate volunteer trio. Mike shows up to support the Chabad team every week and his family are present for so many of our events, always looking for ways to support and show up for others. โœจ

Recently Mike spoke on a panel sharing his story with high school students among several Strides in Recovery coaches. Thank you Mike and your family for your years of continuous dedication. We love having you in our corner! โ˜€๏ธโšก๏ธ

Community care first hand. Thank you Silverlake Track Club โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ

On Sunday we joined Silverlake Track Club for their annual Silverlake Classic 2-Mile race. Not only did we witness some massive PRโ€™s, It was a beautiful reminder of what happens when communities connect. โ™ฅ๏ธ

We are honored by the generosity of everyone who donated. Over 60 pairs of running shoes were collected to help support others on their recovery journey. Beyond the donations, they were happy to help us sort and label every single pair. ๐Ÿท๏ธโšก๏ธโœจ

Leslie Gold, founder of Strides in Recovery loved having the opportunity to share our mission with you all. It was extra special to be there with Coach Sal as Silverlake is his home base. Sal is a multi-marathoner and a tireless supporter of Strides in Recovery. We are so grateful he brought our two worlds together!

Shoe donations make a difference here at Strides, thank you for giving others a chance and directly supporting your community. Thank you Silverlake Track Club for welcoming us with open arms. We hope to see you at one of our events soon! ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ
