What is an Automated Insulin Delivery System?
It is a system that uses an algorithm to communicate between an insulin pump and the data being received from a continuous glucose monitor.
In the US, some of the more common A.I.D systems on the market include the iLet, the Omnipod5, Medtronic MiniMed™ 780G, Tandem t:slim X2™ with Basal-IQ/Control-IQ Technology, and twiist™ Automated Insulin Delivery System powered by Tidepool.
Another class of A.I.D. systems are called "open-source Automated Insulin Delivery (AID) systems". These have been created by people in the "WeAreNotWaiting" community and include systems like Loop, Trio, iAPS, and AndroidAPS.
