Hey folks! Lyndon Fall Festival is shaping up to be an absolutely gorgeous day!
I need some feedback on what you want to see this Sunday!
*What cookies sound good?
*Mini Cobblers or no?
*Mini Crumbles or no?
(It's apple season! Think Apple Cobblers or Dutch Apple yall!)
*Banana and/or Pumpkin bread?
*Focaccia? (Garlic & Herb, are yall interested in FALL FOCACCIA?)

I'll be transitioning to Fall Menu items this week.
I've been quite a bit MIA these last few months on social media, so hoping to get refocused there.
Unfortunately we had quite a bit of family things with life pop up.
Lost a few family members this year, almost lost a 2nd family member due to surgery complications. And just life as parents of active older kids.

I've never liked being in front of the camera but that's something I'm going to personally commit to working on over the winter and headed into next year.

Aside from those things, I've been working hard behind the scenes putting together a winter market for Lyndon. Ill be meeting with the Lyndon Elks this Thursday to further our chats about winter market times! I'll be working with a few City Council members this fall on collaboration with a few of our events. There's a high probability we'll be helping to step in and enhance Light Up Lyndon this year also, to help create a more magical Christmas experience for our local folks. 🥰

I've been networking and making connections with the Ag community to help position us better going into future marker seasons.

We're also in the middle of creating a formal partnership with a local distiller to create a specialized line of Vanilla Extracts, and making next steps to start to get the Vanilla Extracts out to more Kentuckians!

All this from little ole us, situated right here in Lyndon. We love Lyndon, we love our home, we love our community and we're dedicated to helping to continue to enhance the community we love so dearly. So please be patient with me. 🙏
It may look like I've stepped back from baking these last few months, but it's really because of ALL those things going on at the same time behind the scenes. Not going to sugar coat it... with all of those things happening at once, it's been time consuming and overwhelming (in a good way). This is what I mean when I say I take a step back, so I can run forward!

Taking a step back, in order to run forward!
This week, I'm working HARD behind the scenes. In the midst of battling this crazy heat, I'm also finalizing presentation for participation in the Kentucky Proud Vendor Expo tomorrow.

This event is closed to the public. However, it connects Kentucky Proud vendors, like myself, to potential buyers across the state.
Work in progress. There's a lot to prepare for!

Any other small business owners have issues with the Kentucky portals when you're trying to log in for things pertaining to your permits and licenses?
From the get go, NOT ONE TIME have I been able to navigate to ANYTHING past logging in. I've always gotten an error page, and then always have to call the offices directly to pay my permit and licensing fees, and to renew. My profile apparently wasn't established correctly. Then when I got sent to the help desk to fix it, the help desk guy said he doesn't know why they sent me to him because he can't fix it.

Then this year I get a weird letter sent to me from the Dept of Revenue that essentially I never signed my business up for state taxes.
Yes I did. I have the Sales and Use Tax Permit, with the account ID and everything else filed with the state.
When I called THAT help desk, the guy took my case number from the letter mailed to me, looked up my information and confirmed to me that yes I did have all those things and I never should have received that letter.

I ask if the issue may stem from the portal problems I've had. He says yes. Then encourages me to call the help desk again. 🤦‍♀️

Oh, and to make it even more fun... if you don't run a small business, Kentucky has a ridiculous amount of logins and portals from various agencies across the state that we all need to use. They all trickle up to the same few people and oversee only a few aspects of our businesses pertaining to legal paperwork, basically what's needed for tax purposes.

But just like the KY DMV, they have to over complicate every little thing, cause tons of unnecessary red tape (and waste a LOT OF TIME that business owners quite frankly do NOT have), and then they choose to outsource the most important aspects of all these stupid portals. Namely the LOGIN ABILITY, so when they screw it up, they can't even fix it!

I'm beyond frustrated right now from all of this nonsense. I DID learn that there's other random stuff within these portals that I can't even access... that I need to get to to fix. But I can't LOGIN to get to any of it. 😒
