when I saw my books at Half Price right next to Nicholas Pearson The Luminous Pearl Cassandra Eason, and Judy Hall...
first, I almost, forgive me my TMI, peed my pants. it's like being a beginning fashion designer and seeing your outfit hanging next to Izaac Mirzrahi.
then, I ran home and grabbed a pen and some stickers (okay, fine, I ordered stickers beforehand for an authors' fair) and ran back to sign them all.
I don't know how I feel about it yet. I've never done this before. I saw videos online of others signing their books at the stores and thought that I wanted to do that one day.
today was that day.

I tried playing with different public calendars - mostly to let my followers know where I can be found, both online and offline.
after much thought and consideration, I settled on a simple Google Sheets calendar.
all online events have links to either ticket purchase web pages or straight to Zoom if they are free.
the offline ones have as much information as I have myself when it comes to date/time/location, and I will try and keep updating it as the time comes closer to the events I'm participating in.

I don't advertise this because this is not a service I provide regularly but every once in a while, I have an encounter with someone who is dipping their toes into the world of self-publishing.
I self-published 13 books so far and have another 2 in the works, with another 1 having stalled a bit because I may have messed up something with my manuscript. in the great tradition of Mercury Rx, I may try to go back to it within these 3 weeks.
when I mention that I self-publish, I am often asked about how I do it and for more details. if someone already has a manuscript and just needs help getting things going, I will find the time to meet and show everything. yes, it takes time but it is all worth it.
at this point, I have a small track record of probably 5 people I helped get started on the self-publishing journey, with some coming back and showing me the links with their books live for sale.

St. Valentine's Day is a mixed bag.
on the one hand, it can be all lovey-dovey for many. on the other hand, for some, it serves as a bitter reminder of what is not working in their relationships.
one thing that is never wrong is to show love to yourself. you don't love yourself, you can't love anyone else. remember the airplane rule: put your mask on first.
this algorithm is designed for self-love.
love yourself. you are the most precious thing you got.

the algorithm is inspired by a children's book by Antoinette Portis called "Not a Box."
when we try to trap ourselves into a box, we lose spontaneity. this algorithm will help turn a box into something more playful and exciting.

during one of the Practice Circles, a practitioner I worked with asked me: "Are you a witch?"
and, honestly, I didn't even know what to say to that.
the truth is, the word "witch" has a negative connotation, making many shy away from calling themselves or others that.
also, I have no idea whether I am one or not. I got some intuitive gifts, and I use them... when I don't forget I have them and actually listen. does that make me a witch?
moreover, does making a witch make me evil?
so, as we talked, I grabbed a piece of paper and a marker and said, "I think I have an idea. We can make 'witch' a good word." and I jotted down the algorithm that I created pretty much on the fly.
