This is a long one, but I hope you watch it! I spend a lot of time helping other people pay attention to their symptoms and look for patterns, so I’m putting my money where my mouth is and doing the same for myself.

I’ve started logging my food, symptoms, bowel movements, stress, and other details of my day that might help me better understand what’s going on with my gut right now. I’m not obsessing over every little thing or trying to diagnose myself. I’m trying to gather information, look for patterns, and give myself something more useful than guesses.

If you watched the whole thing, thanks for listening to my TED Talk 😂

And if you didn’t…go do it now! 😉

This is one of my family’s normal go-to meals! It’s quick and easy, everyone can build and customize their own plates and it covers all the basics without too much thought. I love it on busy weeknights because it all comes together super fast.

This photo is actually from last week before the whole parasite situation blew up. No pun intended 😂
We typically add lettuce, fresh salsa, and pico but when I make this meal this week, I plan to do sautéed peppers and onions with jarred salsa instead. I want to make sure that I’m still getting the fiber from those vegetables and not skimping on flavor!

Balanced meals really can be this simple. This is what I’ll be teaching in my next free workshop, Building Balanced Meals. I’d love to help you learn how to put simple satisfying meals together for yourself and your family!

Real life nutrition looks like this.

We have a long softball tournament this weekend, and the rules say we can’t bring coolers with any food except fruit and water. They didn’t say anything about non-perishable foods and snacks, though! 😉 So instead of crossing my fingers and hoping the concession stand has something that works for me (spoiler alert: it won’t…they never do!), I made a quick Kroger run this afternoon.

My goal isn’t perfection. It’s making sure I have some protein, fiber, healthy fats, and fruit available so I can feel my best all day. I’ll probably toss a few beef sticks and fruit bars in my bag, too.

Nutrition doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Sometimes supporting your body means thinking ahead and working with what you’ve got. That’s real life.

P.S. This is exactly the kind of real-life nutrition we’ll be talking about in my free Building Balanced Meals workshop. If you’d like to join us, you can register through the link in my bio. 💜

This was lunch today: leftover grilled cod on corn tortillas with red cabbage, pico, salsa, and homemade crema. I didn’t make it for content. I was just hungry and using what I had.

This is what I mean when I say balanced meals don’t have to be complicated. It had protein, carbs, fat, fiber, and flavor. It was satisfying, it worked for my actual life, and I didn’t have to overthink it.

This is something you can learn to do too! And I’d love to help you 😉

I think that making decisions about food and what we’re going to eat can get overcomplicated sometimes, but it really doesn’t have to be that way. At the most basic level, building a balanced meal usually includes protein, fat, carbs, and fiber. This combination helps make your meals more satisfying, supports your energy throughout the day, and helps you feel fuller longer while giving your body the fuel it needs to make it through the day.

You don’t have to track every bite, and you don’t have to make it perfect. This is exactly what we’ll be talking about in my free Building Balanced Meals workshop. We’ll break down what it actually looks like to make a meal more balanced, why some meals keep you full longer than others, and how to build meals that feel doable and realistic for everyday life.

If this is something you’ve been wanting to understand in a simple and practical way, I’d love for you to join me. I’ll put the sign-up link in the comments so you can get the Zoom link before the workshop.

It may not be pretty or fancy, but this has been my go to breakfast this summer. Greek yogurt, berries, nuts and seeds, a little granola, and cinnamon.

This is a balanced meal that carries me through until lunch, and it’s delicious. I think balanced meals get overcomplicated sometimes, but they really don’t have to be.

If you’ve ever wondered what actually makes a meal more satisfying or why some meals keep you full longer than others, that’s exactly what we’ll be talking about in my next free workshop later this month!

My very first free workshop with MPowered Wellness is tomorrow, and I’d really love for you to join me! Living Well with Autoimmunity is a topic that’s close to my heart because it reflects so much of what I’ve learned through my own experience and through the work I now get to do as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner.

This free workshop is for anyone who wants to better understand what we know about autoimmunity, why the foundations of health matter, and what it can look like to support your body without perfection or extremes. We’ll talk about nourishing our bodies, digestion, steady energy, supporting stress and sleep, and building movement into our days in ways that feel practical and doable.

If living with autoimmunity has ever felt overwhelming or made you unsure where to focus, this workshop is meant to bring clarity and encouragement. My hope is that you leave with a better understanding of what support can look like and a few small steps you can actually use.

Autoimmunity may be part of your story, but it doesn’t have to define your whole life.

Join me for this free 30-minute workshop tomorrow, June 30 at 7 PM on Zoom.
