This past year has been a journey of uncovering the why’s of life. If you have been following along for any time, you will know that most of that revolves around our health and the discovery of “why” we feel the way we do, but today I pose the same question, and ask for the same thought process…why do we give gifts at Christmas?

There is not a right answer here, just a good and healthy practice for us to ponder the why of everything we do. Pulse check on our actions this holiday season 🎄Matthew 2:11

This is your reminder/prescription/encouragement to PAUSE. Healing begins with prioritizing peace above chaos, which is why my recommendation for anyone seeking healing, health, or restoration in this season is to PAUSE.

Stop looking around to see what everyone else is doing and tacking it on to the end of your list.

Slow down, breathe deeply, laugh, and enjoy your people. ✨

We can't do it all, and anytime a healthy lifestyle becomes number 1 in our lives, we find ourselves in an unsustainable place.

However, when we gradually shift our mindset and work towards an ultimate goal, we find ourselves with new habits and rhythms that support that goal!

Tell me 1️⃣ of the things you'll be focusing this month on in the comments! 👇

I don't know about you, but drained and tired is not how I want to spend my holidays!

Remember: Perfectionistic goals only create stress, but being intentional with what we put in our bodies allows us to live the life we want. Energized, peaceful, and feeling comfortable in our own skin! 🫶

Let’s have an honest conversation about alcohol! 🍸 The holidays are upon us and Christmas cocktail parties are on the calendar in the next few weeks - what is the goal?

“Minimal to none” is on my mind - I will certainly approach the holidays by listening to and supporting my body. Peer pressure is a thing of the past 😉 - say no when necessary. I also recognize that my ability to tolerate an alcoholic beverage largely depends on how I have cared for myself in the days preceding. Am I rested, hydrated, and nutrient levels optimal?

Most importantly, making a plan ahead of time will certainly allow you to support your body and remain consistent in this exciting season! ✨

Improvement over perfection is always the goal! 🤍

The holidays can often bring up unnecessary pressure around eating, moving, or living in a certain way. I encourage you to take the pressure off of yourself and set some clear goals!

Once your goals are set, you can make decisions throughout your days without added stress or guilt, knowing that you're doing the best you can in each moment.

Save this post to revisit when you need the reminder this month! 🎄

Gratitude = the overflowing state of my heart....gratitude for this time away, gratitude for memories, gratitude for my mom and her generosity, gratitude for my siblings and their spouses (blurred lines between family and friends - what a gift), gratitude for my 5, and most of all gratitude to the Lord for who He is. Pause today to look through the lens of gratitude. It is good for the soul.

Rather than adding to an endless To-Do list of protocols, diets, and restrictions, are there areas of your life that would be easy to change or cut out in an easy, stress-free way? Some examples could include:
🤍 Eliminating processed sugar
🤍 Swapping sodas for a better alternative
🤍 Reducing caffeine on an empty stomach
🤍 Reducing or cutting out alcohol intake
➡️ This answer looks different for everyone!

When we restrict SO many things, we often resort back to old habits of yo-yo dieting, but when we consciously make an effort to support our bodies and FEEL better, we are able to successfully make grounds towards our health goals!

A few weeks ago, Mark & I decided to eat clean and specifically cut out grains for 3 weeks leading up to a vacation.

At the end of the 3 week period, we reflected and found that during that time, we didn't see the results we were hoping for, and we actually felt WORSE than before.

The more we walk through our journey of discovery with functional medicine and a root cause approach, the more we are learning how to listen to our bodies and intuitively choose to consume foods that will help us achieve our goals, rather than restricting in the name of "health."

That's why this holiday season, rather than living in fear or worry about everything I put into my mouth, and making a list of rules about what I can/cannot eat, I am deciding to live in a way that supports my body that I can sustain for longer than 3 weeks.

Have you ever found yourself in a cycle of striving for the next health goal? Maybe it's time to reframe your mindset around health! 🤍
