As of May 12th PCOS has changed its name. I think this is wonderful!
PCOS has been such a dynamic disorder that only identifying one thing ( cysts on ovaries) when there are multiple issues with hormones have been identified.
Also, the issues don't just go away with removal of the cysts. That is the top of the iceberg.
This has been increasing in the rates that patients are being diagnosed and can lead to fertility issues among other things.
So, welcome PMOS! The functional docs welcome you!
Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS) is the new name for the condition previously known as Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS), which impacts 1 in 8, or more than 170 million women worldwide.
