Anyone who really knows me, knows that I love being in nature. I made plans to be in nature this weekend…the trip didn’t start out as planned, but it unfolded into a beautiful experience. Lots of self-reflection that created amazing awareness and healing for me. It was a great RESET, just what I needed after a summer of transition. What do you do to help you reset?

What if we stopped trying so hard to “get our lives together”?

What if instead, we learned to honor the phase we’re in?

The healing phase.
The growing phase.
The resting phase.
The messy phase.
The becoming phase.

Our bodies, minds, and nervous systems move through seasons too. There is wisdom in slowing down enough to notice what this particular season is asking of us.

You don’t have to rush your healing.
You don’t have to have all the answers.
And you certainly don’t have to be the same person you were yesterday.

Give yourself permission to have phases. 🌙

This practitioner has several good resources and information…came across this one today, and it resonated with me…especially as I go through a season of transition. A good take away is LESS IS BETTER.

An overwhelmed nervous system has a limited
capacity.

When you're stuck in fight or flight or living with
chronic pain, your body is already working
overtime. The more you throw at it, the less it
has available to respond.

When you start doing a dozen different things
in an attempt to heal, it can become just
another source of stress.
You can do 10 different things to your body, but
that doesn't mean your body can take in all 10.

It's not always what you start doing that helps.
Sometimes it's what you stop doing.

Start small. Slow down. Be present.

Your body and your nervous system will thank you.

Muscle Knots vs. Fascial Restrictions: They’re NOT the Same. ✨

Have you ever been told you have a “muscle knot” or “you have a not in your muscle”?

While muscles can become tight and develop tender trigger points, many people are actually feeling fascial restrictions that are pulling on the body far beyond one small area.

Here’s the difference:

🔹 Muscle Knots
• Localized areas of muscle tension or trigger points
• Often feel sore or tender when pressed
• Can temporarily improve with massage, stretching, or movement
• Usually involve the muscle itself

🔹 Fascial Restrictions
• Involve the connective tissue fascia that surrounds every muscle, nerve, organ, blood vessel, and bone
• Can create tension throughout the entire body—not just where you feel pain
• May develop from trauma, surgery, inflammation, repetitive strain, birth compression, or emotional stress
• Can place up to 2,000 pounds of pressure per square inch on pain-sensitive structures

This is why rubbing the painful spot often provides only temporary relief.

The real restriction may be somewhere completely different.

✨ John F. Barnes Myofascial Release uses gentle, sustained pressure to allow the fascia to soften and regain its natural mobility. As the fascial system changes, the body often moves more freely, pain decreases, and function improves.

Your body is connected from head to toe.

Sometimes what feels like a “muscle knot” is actually your fascia asking to be released.
