Earlier this week I attended a meet & greet at The Birth Center of Nashua at St. Joseph Hospital for community doulas & St Joe's staff. Krista, Cyndie and others from the unit shared that their hope is to strengthen their relationship with community doulas.

What really stood out was how open and real our conversation felt. We talked honestly about the “gap” that can sometimes exist between doulas and hospital staff, and how much intention it takes on both sides to bridge that in a way that truly supports families. It didn’t feel surface-level… it felt like a genuine step toward better understanding and collaboration.

The relationship and team approach matters to the care we are able to provide our doula clients! The birth culture at a birthplace makes a world of difference for families and for how we do our job. There’s some really thoughtful work happening here, and I’m excited to see how these relationships continue to grow 🌱

It might just look like a handful of moms and babies meeting outside... fresh air, a few blankets, some snacks if we remembered them for ourselves.

But what’s actually happening is a little deeper than that.

It’s someone saying something out loud for the first time and realizing they’re NOT the only one.

It’s hearing “same” or seeing nodding, then feeling your shoulders drop a little.

It’s watching someone else be in the thick of it and recognizing yourself there.

It’s showing up as you are... tired, still figuring things out, not remembering the last time you showered calmly.

No pressure to have it together. No expectation to perform or be "thriving."

Just being in a space where nothing about this season has to be minimized or rushed.

Just being spontaneous and brave to have a field trip location before returning to the usual spot next week.

Community doesn’t fix everything.

But it can make this feel a whole lot less isolating.

And that matters more than most people expect.

Don't underestimate this 💚

Our team of doulas are MORE than the skills and certifications they hold. 👉🏼 This is a team of growing, kind, open-minded and loyal people, whose dedication to each other and this community ignites the ultimate ripple effect.

I'm grateful to know this team (30+ people currently) and witness how they show up as people.
.. They carpool to team events, team up at conferences and are eager to step in as backup 👥 when needed.
..They cheer each other on, showing up for things like fundraiser or meal drop-offs after moments of birth and death. 🥧
.. They listen and brainstorm 🧠 when something exciting is in the works or when life on call or knee-deep in postpartum care gets heavy.
.. They are responsive and quick to jump in when me or fantastic admin reach out. (And wow, does Sonny shine bright 🌞)
.. They share resources, are guest speakers at our team lunch & learns, and are constantly open to learning something new.

As World Doula Week 2026 is behind us, I want to express deep gratitude for not just what they do, but for who they *are* 💚

All my love,
Allison

Tight hips, sore back, pelvic pressure? Try this ✨
One of my favorite tools in birth classes (and in my own pregnancy support) is a birthing ball.

Gentle movement on the ball can:
💚 Ease back & hip tension
💚 Reduce pelvic pressure
💚 Support upright posture
💚 Encourage baby into a comfy position

In this reel, I’m showing a few simple positions you can try at home: hip circles, gentle bouncing, forward-leaning support, and upright seated posture. Even a few minutes can make a real difference!

I’m using the ball 🦋 It’s odor-free, CA65 safety-tested, holds up to 440 lbs and comes with a guidebook + memory book for parents.

✨ Want to try it? Use code BEYONDBIRTH on Amazon for a discount!
💌 Save this for your pregnancy comfort routine

Romantic... but make it birth 😉🌊✨ 💚

Any of these resonate? What answer would YOU consider swoon-worthy and "romantic" from your birth partner? Mine is slide #1 (that's me in the picture too!).

Birth has a way of shaping us long before we realize it. My first birth unfolded in ways I couldn't predict, and yet, it was filled with power and a sacred story that is deeply my own.

Sharing this story feels quite vulnerable, and it also feels right. If you’ve ever had a birth take an unexpected turn, I hope you feel seen here. My full story (with more photos and reflections from both the softness and the struggle) is now live on the blog (link below).💚✨

I’m endlessly grateful for the team who held us through every moment:
~our steady midwife Hawthorn Midwifery and her assist Grace
~our thoughtful doula Trisha
~our amazing photographer Beautifully Human - Photos and Film
~our kind hospital team at Catholic Medical Center
~and our caring family who surrounded us with love.
Your presence shaped this story in the most dynamic and meaningful ways.

Thank you all for being gentle with me as I processed and carefully shared this with you ❤️

Here’s the heart and soul of our agency: a team of doulas who believe in strength through softness and community in every season. 🍂

👉🏼 The magic of our work begins with the way we care for one another. Collaboration, connectedness, sharing wisdom and ideas, validating and listening are all pieces of the puzzle.

When doulas support doulas, families feel that ripple of compassion and steadiness. 🌳

This is [some of] our team: grounded, dedicated & here to walk with you through every step of your birth journey.

Together, we get to create the kind of support *every* family deserves!!
