Local fair season has begun in Lancaster County! Check out some upcoming local fairs happening in Elizabethtown, Denver, Solanco, Ephrata, West Lampeter, New Holland and Manheim in the upcoming weeks! Fairs are great activities for families to enjoy together and connects families with the local community. There are often games, rides, food, agricultural experiences and much, much more.

Lancaster County Early Intervention can support children with developmental delays and/or disabilities and their families/caregivers to participate in activities in the local community. If your family is receiving Lancaster County Early Intervention developmental services and you are planning a trip to a local fair in the next couple of weeks, talk with your Interventionist or Therapist about some ways to help prepare your child for attending the fair. They also can work together with you to share some developmental strategies and activities that you can do with your child while at the fair to promote their learning and development!

Did you know there are Early Intervention services for preschool age children provided by the Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13 Preschool Early Intervention Program?

Special Education services for children begin far before they are ready to enter school!

The Early Intervention Program of IU13 provides support and services to children, from age three to age five, with disabilities and the need for specially designed instruction. Children may be eligible for Preschool Special Education by meeting criteria for at least one of the disability categories.

For children determined eligible for Preschool Early Intervention, an Individualized Education Program (IEP) is developed to determine the appropriate supports and services. Early Intervention services must be delivered in the setting(s) consistent with the educational needs of the child. Services may be provided in settings such as, but not limited to, local childcare centers, community preschools, Head Start Programs, specialized settings, or in the home. There is no cost to families or caregivers for Early Intervention screenings, evaluations, or services.
